All I know is that the last one released in the West was Tales of Symphonia and that JRPG enthusiasts are always upset when Nanco doesn't translate the latest intallment. So what makes them so great?

There have been a few more Tales of games released in the west since Symphonia. You are forgetting Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Symphonia 2, and I can't remember is Tales of Legendia was released before or after Symphonia. If you like JRPG then these are great games. I love the series. I love the cliched stories and characters. Usually a lot of plot twists and interesting characters. THe quests are long. And finally, the battle system is real-time with lots of different melees and special skills. It's really addictive. Tales of Symphonia is one of my favorite games of all time. All I know is that the last one released in the West was Tales of Symphonia and that JRPG enthusiasts are always upset when Nanco doesn't translate the latest intallment. Eh, I think I've heard from my JRPG crazed friend that ToS was the last released. Maybe I just heard him wrongAntoineCoyoteIf you like jRPGs and have a gamecube or Wii, you can still find Symphonia at some gamestops or EB Games. Last time I saw it it was under $20 still. I really wish Vesperia and Graces would get released in the US for PS3 so I could try those.

What are you talking about man, Symphonia is so hard to find, I can sell my copy for 40 bucks or so on eBay with plenty of people willing to pay for that price. Of course, the thought of selling my ToS copy is insane and I will never do that :P And Namco hates North Ameriaca too much to release a Tales game here now.

Agreed, I had to buy two copies just because of rarity :P

xilia will be missing us as well btw
japan only it seems its slated for next year sometime as a ps3 exclusive.
it will be the last TALES OF game for as long as far down the road as they can toss the IP that is.
its about some stupid med student and his fireball flinging gf.
I didn't think it was hard to find. I just went to GameStop.com and it shows it's available at 4 stores within 20 miles of my house. It's $19.99.
I bought Tales of Legendia a few months ago for $11.99 I think. I see the price just went up. The guy tried to sell me a warranty for it because he said it is very rare.

the company who origionally penned the tales of series is defunct and the new owners of the IP didnt exactly want it in the first place so expect it to sit on a shelf for bloody ages. after xilia dont expect another tales of game IN YOUR LIFETIME.
The original Tales (Tales of Phantasia) was published by Namco (NamoBandai is now the owner of the IP) and developed by Wolf Team. Wolf Team eventually became Namco Tales Studio after a portion of the team left to form Tri-Ace and Namco was able to obtain majority shareholder status. So it's technically correct that the IP is under a different ownership, but it's owned by the original publisher. The real reason that more releases aren't being localized is that NamcoBandai does not see the value. Localization of text heavy games is already expensive, but they also insist on including voice tracks (which when inluding the skits is a massive undertaking). Financially, they're resources are better used releasing more profitable games like the Naruto series. I would venture to guess, however, that Xillia will get a North American release. It's part of the Tales 15th Anniversary and likely a much higher profile release then Graces.
