I personally never found FPS games- especially for fast paced and/or gory ones- ever to have a fitting sound track. I'm sorry, but I definately think you gotta have some REALLY heavy, or ridiculously light unicorn/barney/disney music- you get the idea (For the contrast).

Nothing like listening to fairy music to get you in the zone while blowing someones brains out at point blank :P

i always thought the type of music matched its type of game, i.e. metal with FPS, techno with racing games, rap with sports games, and punk with extreme sports games (snowboarding, skateboarding, etc.)
It depends. On a lot of games I simply turn off the in game music and just have the ambient sounds on.caseystryker
Yeah me too, especially in Oblivion. I really like how quiet and almost peacful the music in spider man 3 is, i think the game was really under rated i mean the guy who reviewed it at IGN sounded like he just really sucked at it.
But I know on PC I listen to GWAR, Deftones, Jimi Hendrix and so on when I play FPS games and RTS games. It gets annoying trying to play music to COD3 for PS3, cause you can't turn the music off:evil:

RPGs in game, Metal Gear games or something that requires your full atttention, no music at all.
I listen to my exstensive collection of 80's Classics .. sometimes putting some 70's , 60's , 50's or 90;s in the mix with the occasional modern Song..
Or i just fire up my collection of rock ballads :)
well i don't really have any ps3 games that i'd wanna listen to other stuff w/, but w/ other systems, if i'm playing a game where i don't really need to hear anything, like smackdown, then i'll play whatever comes up on my playlist
SIngle Player I use ingame music cos it warns you about things and builds atmosphere

Eh I Listen to mostly a Mix of Heavy Metal stuff, Metallica,Pantera,Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Drowning Pool, Saliva, Limp Bizkit mostly Just Tear **** up music xD
throwdown, Rage Against the Machine, Fuel, The Crystal Method, The Prodigy, Slipknot, Talib Kweli, Pendulum, Linkin Park, cky, Disturbed, Strapping Young Lad, and Ghetto Boys when i play games. sumtimes static x, sick puppies, and korn too.
I would have to say Beethoven's 5th, Presto-Allegro assai. Awesome for FPS and RTS games. It really sets the mood when you send a whole army to DESTROY EVERYTHING in its path, or when you run through 0wning people in an online FPS such as Counter-Strike: Source.
If the music is nice I leave it but I just mute the tv and put in earphones so that way I don't wake my family because I normally only play really late at night.
