What PS3 exclusives are you NOT interested in?

While replying to that thread asking for our top 5 anticipated exclusives and multiplats, this idea for a thread came to me.

For me, there are two exclusives I'm absolutely not in interested in at the moment.

The first is Heavy Rain. I was actually pretty excited for this game, but then I saw some ofit and my hype dropped instantly. The voice acting is atrocious and the visuals don't seem to live up to the hype whatsoever. The visuals still look good and are not a problem,but I can't get over the voice acting.Since this game's story is a huge focus, it's simply a turn-off. Right now, the game's audiovisual presentation screams awkward IMO.

The second is Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. As far as I'm concerned, this series has worn out its welcome. The series, which was great when it first debuted, has become a rehash series of the highest order. I'm tired of them not changing anything about what I see as a formula that's starting to get quite stale. If I see some reviews saying that they made substantial changes, I might look into it, but otherwise, I'm done with this series. Insomniac has lost my attention and now I'm completely focusing on what Naughty Dog has to offer.

Some of us didn't play the R&C games on the PS2 and found "Tools of Destruction" to be absolutely brilliant!

I guess you guys don't own Ninendo systems then...has Mario or Zelda or Metroid worn out their welcome yet? Hell...has the Master Chief worn out his welcome?

The only PS3 exclusive that doesn't interest me at this point in time is Final Fantasy XIV. And the only reason I'm not interested is because I'm pretty sure it'll come with a monthly fee that I am not interested in paying.

I don't know why you're being so defensive about R&C, but Mario hasn't worn out his welcome whatsoever, because they change up the forumla substantially. The 3D Mario games are arer eally different from eachother. On the other hand, the Halo rehashing is getting a bit out of hand. The Metroid Prime formula, as superb as it is, is getting boring too. I would like forthat series to maybe go back to its roots with a bit of a twist.

Folklore, I played the demo and found it boring. And Lair because....it's Lair :lol: And the stuff like Singstar, Buzz etc, doesn't interest me.Floppy_Jim

I thought Folklore was such a missed opportunity. It's so beautiful, but too linear to be in any way interesting on the gameplay front.

Definitely Final Fantasy XIV. First of all, I'm not a fan or RPGs. Second of all, it's an mmorpg (right?) and that brings my interest level in it down to zero.

The Metroid Prime formula is getting oring too. I would like for it to maybe go back to its root with a bit of a twist.

I haven't. I'll have to check it out. I love classic Metroid.

Up your arsenal though- I actually found it to bea bitstale. The series hadn't changed in the slightest (except for the addition of multiplayer in UYA- which wasn't anything special for me), so it was obvious Insomniac was just going through the motions with UYA.

After UYA, I immediately lost interest in the series- and haven't played any R&C game since. (I MIGHT eventually try Tools of Destruction- but that's a big 'might' right now- for I don't have much interest in returning to the series... My brother might though...)

Up your arsenal though- I actually found it to bea bitstale. The series hadn't changed in the slightest (except for the addition of multiplayer in UYA- which wasn't anything special for me), so it was obvious Insomniac was just going through the motions with UYA.

My first Playstation console was the PS3 so I didn't ever play any of the PS2 games, which might have something to do with this, but in all honesty Tools of Destruction is one of my favorite PS3 games. I really enjoyed it. I would at least give it a rent.

Well, I'm not really one to disuade people from trying out games, but if you do decide you try out Tools of Destruction, you should rent. It comes across as more of a rehash than the other if only because you'd think they could do something different on a current gen platform.

Ratchet and Clank is one of the reasons I bought PS3 in the first place so I'm deff. gonna buy that on day one.

White Knight Chronicles does not interest me at all. Maybe I just haven't seen enough gameplay but it looks really cliched and bland to me. I still haven't seen enough of MAG to be sold on it either. FFXIV and Agent we know nothing about other than genres and developers so those games haven't caught my interest yet. I need to see gameplay of Agent and enough proof that it won't be as repetitive as GTA. I need to see gameplay of FFXIV and need the knowledge that the game will be free to play. If FFXIV has a subscription fee then its a no sell

Cross Edge... and... I think that's it. (FFXIV as wellif not counting PC)

I don't think you could be more wrong Grand Theft Auto IV. It's really much different than it's predecessors. Much different graphical style and setting, the characters are really different from past Grand Theft Auto games, it seems very streamlined compared to San Andreas, the physics of the cars is worlds different from the PS2 GTA's, the storytelling efforts have entered a new level of sophistication, the shooting mechanics are much different, there's a cover system, there is actually a bit of moral weight to GTAIV, there are choices, the tone of the game is no longer goofy and comical, etc.

It shares many similiarities with its predecessors, but no, it's not a rehash by any means. And even it was a rehash (which it isn't), it surely isn't a blatant R&C-type rehash. R&C is rehashed to the point that the environments sometimes seem to have a dejavuish quality to them. And how many times are they going to use that damn arena!

You're going to have to elaborate on Fallout 3 as it's not even remotely similar to the first two games. PC fanboys would beg on bended knee for Fallout 3 to be a rehash of the first two.

As for Killzone, it has only had one sequel. It may be slightly derivative (it's still great though), but it's not in the rehash phase yet. I wasn't complaining about R&C when Going Commando came out. But it's just getting too blatant now.

I agree that Valkyria Chronicles is the freshest though. Awesome game. Everybody that has a PS3 should own it.

Heavy Rain - Quicktime movie, seriously.

MAG - At the moment it looks just any other generic FPS and I doubt people will take the whole teamwork aspect seriously.

Up coming games all look good, but for current games, resistance, that game is soooooo bland

Somebody doesn't know what their talking about. ;) Only honest quicktime events are when your being attacked or chased.

From what I've seen the third person gameplay is just used to string the quick time events together.

Heavy rain, maybe MAG, God of War 3 (just... not a fan, but i'd try it) and The Last Gurdian. I dont have a PS3 yet btw

I want to defend FFXIV but I won't. It's just the one game that has me extremely excited. When FFXI came out I didn't care once I heard it was an MMORPG, til I learned just how much fun MMORPG's are. FFXI was worth every penny.

The exclusives I don't care for are definately Gran Turismo 5 and God of War 3. Around 10 hours of senseless violence isn't my idea of fun. I'd rather use my brain and play a strategy game. :P No offense to the fans, it's the fans of God of War that seem to help Sony sell it's systems.. so... more power to ya!

Other games would be:

GT5 - I loved GT4, but GT5:Prologue just seemed too realistic, and as a result, bland and boring.

White Knight Chronicles and FFXIIV (or whatever the hell it is) because I can' stand JRPGs.

Folklore, and R@C; I liked the portable one, but the console one feels to similar.

Oh, and I could never get into Warhawk, I just didn't like the gunplay and diedconstantly.
