What resolution does MGS4 run on?

Hi everyone,

Been searching for this online with no luck. What resolution does MGS4 run on? 720p? 1080p? Please let me know...

If it says 1080P on the back of the box (which it does) then its not upscaling. It is native 1080P.Liquid-Prince

"Supported Resolutions" does not imply the game to run natively at those resolutions. Heck, many 360 and PS3 titles run at native 720p, even though you can force them to run at 1080p (example : Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto 4).

Yep, I thought I was going to have to force 1080p for MGS4, but I didn't. It stayed at 1080p and didn't drop down to 720p.

It plays native 1080p on my HDTV.

I got a 46 inch sony bravia. Only that when I play GTA4 and press the display button it says its 720p.How can I force the hardware to go 1080p? Both the LCD and the PS3 are set to run at FULL HD 1080p.

Go to the display settings and uncheck every box except the 1080p slot. Make sure to switch it back when playing a game that doesn't support 1080p, it will downscale the game to 480p.

Despite what GTAIV says on the back cover. It runs 720p native. I don't like how Rockstar has to lie about it.

Yep, go to settings, then move down to display settings. Click on that and then click on the video output settings. Choose HDMI and click Custom, uncheck the boxes and you're good to go.

So, gta4 is native 720p but it can be upscaled to 1080p using the PS3 hardware. Whats wrong with upscaling?

I have similar probelm to some of described here and i hope that someone will help me (somehow).

It is about MGS4 resolution. Before untill now it run on 720p and now it is on 1080p and that newer happend before. In back of the box it says 720.

I know that all games use best (default) resolution but from now MGS4 is on 1080' and when game is loaded it have black frame about 3cm (2 inches).

I think that problem may be related to some odd freez when i load MGS4 (and was forced to restart my PS3). Others 720p games from my collection run normaly on 720p.

Does anyone know about this 'anomaly'?
