well you asked so I have a 54Â inch ultravision...well my parents do..lol
26 is good enough..had it in dorm at school. but bigger is better if it fits ur budget
I just ordered a 65inch Toshiba 65hm167 for $1750 shipped, no tax, plus no interest for a year from onecall.com. I plan to sit 10 feet away.
I think 32inch would be better. It will let you sit back a bit further and enjoy the HD detail better, kind of important for games to see things in the distance. 26inch is decent but the bear minimum for small and if you are sitting 5 feet away it might not be the best option. Then again, is the price difference for the 6 inches worth it to you? How will this be setup ? If you plan to sit right in front of it then the size doesn't matter a whole lot because with HD you can sit a lot closer to them like a PC screen without it looking bad like a regular SD tv. Speaking of regular square 4:3 tv on a 32inch widescreen, it will appear around the size of a 26inch tv incase you want to watch tv often.
I'd sit probably 2-4 feet away. I also have a big cha;;enge of running a 50ft ethernet cable from the front room to my room lol.I just ordered a 65inch Toshiba 65hm167 for $1750 shipped, no tax, plus no interest for a year from onecall.com. I plan to sit 10 feet away.

Excuse my typos in my first post.
2-4 feet away should be good for 26inch. You can always move to 2 feet for games like GRAW where you need to survey and shoot objects real small in the distance. What's the model you are looking at for 26inch?
I have a 42" plasma The room is just to small to get anything larger..Oh ya plus cost :)
I posted a viewing distance chart below this a guide line for distance and TV screen size..
30"3.75-6.25 feet
34"4.25-7 feet
42"5.25-8.75 feet
50"6.25-10.5 feet
56"7-11.75 feet
62"7.75-13 feet
70"8.75-14.75 feet

It's an Olevia. I'm not sure of the exact model but I did some research on it and it seems like you can't beat it for the price.I do have a 32incher in my room too, a Olevia 232v LCD panel, the one Circuit City has for $499.
It works well as I needed it to be somewhat larger to watch tv in bed while I play the 360 (PS3 in living room) sitting in my desk chair within 4 feet. http://other.toonguru.com/speakers/set_002.jpg
Being cheap I don't expect it to be perfect. It looks great with vivid/bright stuff and during the day. At night it's still good unless you have the lights out and are watching something real dark as the blacks look a bit glowy and gray.
I'm trying to decide between a 26" and 32" for my room and PS3. The price difference is $500 to $750. The only thing I worry about is if 26" is to small. Thanks in advance for the input!Acid08i personally have a 32" and it suits my needs just fine. i don't need a 50"+ to be happy.
50 inches, and i sit 9-11 feet away from the tv screen. (1366x768 resolution)
You will be two feet away tho, go with whatever has better PQ...Â
