I am looking at a few different setups for my PS3 and Samsung LCD. The Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver (unsure on speakers), the Sony STR910 receiver, and Logitech's Z5500 speaker package (which is somewhat cheap but does not use HDMI). Any suggestions?

Upstairs on the HDTV I'm just using the A/V Cables, but downstairs, I have a 80" white screen, a projector, Morantz Reciever, 5 JVC Tower speakers, and 2 JVC subs. All depends on the beer, and who's over.

I got this Yamaha receiver set up for my surround sound set up. Can't not quite remember the model name but it is pretty nice. The quality almost match my Phillips 1000w system. I have a friend that has that Sony brand and his sounds nice as well.

Not exactly what you are looking for but I am using this for surround on my PS3:

http://www.ecoustics.com/dt/3543

It gives precision and advantage online on who is coming. I swear that in COD4, when someone is walking on the other side on my right, then I hear cracking on my right and I know the person is comming so I can wait and shoot him when he pop up.

I'm currently using a Sony HT-DDW995It's a home theater in box, but it's the best I've seen. It has 5.1, HDMI Active Intelligence,Auto calibration, Digital Media Port,Portable audio enhancer,900 watts, Digital Decoding, Ipod compatable, among other fine features for under $500 US. It fits my needs perfectly for my apartment.

I have an Onkyo SR805 with a 7.1 sepeaker set from SVS audio. The thing I like best about this setup is the clarity. As you turn it up it doesn't distort or get abraisive. Just gets louder and clearer. It's great for home theater and gaming. I would like a better center channel and maybe front speakers one day though.

do not use composite for sound... because if you listen carefully you will hear that humming sound ever so slightly... use optical or HDMI

and please for the love of god... don't buy a receiver with a built in DVD players.... YOU WILL REGRET IT!

This system looks like it has everything I'm looking for, including a great price. It is very hard to find in Canada though. All I seem to be able to find is the DDW990. I'll keep looking. Thanks.

I am Using an Onkyo TX-SR875 with Monitor Audio RS8's at the front and MA Radius 270's at the rear. I can definatley reccommend those but it depends on your budget. Personally I'd go with Onkyo over Sony as it has more features and sounds better IMO. Then add something like a Monitor Audio Radius package or maybe something like the Kef 2005/3005se range. SVS also do a cracking budget speaker package but it fails in the looks department IMO.

The Onkyo does 7.1 audio, had HDMI out, uses the Reon VX chip for upto 1080 upscaling, is Bi-wire compatable, can do multi-room functions by using it as a preamp and is THX certified. All in all its about as complete as it gets for HT.
