They showed that trailer which didn't show anything a few years ago at E3 and what happen? Please square, remake that game im just curious how it would turn out. Also FF7 is the only game i can finish and then want to start it over again 5 min later i think its that good. Sony wants to sell more PS3s get square to remake that game, and if they really want sales to go up make the game with two seperate stories--one where Aeris lives and one where she dies. (i know THAT will NEVER happen but...) I just love that game im sorry folks...

A remake of FF7 would be pointless if you think about it. It was just a tech demo after all, like showing a face or water/nature tech demos. They just wanted to put something familiar that people would actually watch. I personally think it was just a move to boost sales of Advent Children or something, and to show off how far Sony has come and what to expect from future Final Fantasys. So don't expect an FF7 remake. If anything, I would count more on a collection disk like they did with the SNES FF games on PS1. Maybe then it would get a slight graphical upgrade of games like FF7,8 and 9 on 1 Blu Ray disk or something.

To anwser your other question, I think I was 17 when I first played FF7 (1997 was when it came out right? Can't remember, but I was a teenager then anyways lol)

Oh yeah I know what you mean. Heck I remember when NES graphics were "out of this world!" lol

I dunno, anybody that can't realise that "that's how it was back then" must have a REAL short attention span. It's like playing Super Mario 3 today on NES and someone comes by saying "man those graphics SUCK!" Just kinda makes you want to just knock'em upside his head lol

There are a lot of die-hard fans but Square would have to be assured it would be worth the money. It would take like 5 years to bring it up to full modern standards and they're either doing it behind the scenes now or would rather spend the time on new stuff. You gotta realize that making a FF7 remake is essinitally making an entire new massive RPG and that's pretty risky. We'll probably just see a PSP remake or something.

They have remade FF1 - 6 ... so why not remake FFVII ?

FFVII's graphics don't even push PS1 to its limits -- the difference would be huge + i think it would be an awsome game to go alongside FFVII: Advent Children COMPLETE when that is released on Blu-ray.

A remake of FFVII - with PS3 graphics, additional materia, additional side-quests, a new dungeon with some additional optional bosses would sell like crazy. I'm talking about garenteed 3 million+ in sales ...
A FFVII remake on PS3 would end up making Square-Enix millions of $$$, it would sell hundred's of thousands of PS3's in Japan - even more world wide.

AND due to PS3's position at the moment Square-Enix couldn't worry about the game allowing PS3 to become the makret leader and dominant like the PS2 was becuase everyone knows a single game couldn't do that !

SE has milked FFVII enough as it is. They should focus on new games, and they are.

I don't even understand what is so special about FFVII.

I thought Square Enix cancelled the project, or at least put it away. It'd be cool though if it was remade into 3D form with voiceovers.

The only game that was remade in 3D was FF3 (and FFIV when it's done). Updating a game with new, clearer sprites and other touches isn't as time consuming and expensive as creating extremely detailed 3D assets and high-res textures from the ground up. Plus, I think Square knows how easily they could screw up and disappoint the fans, because our expectations are so high.
