What the heck is Borderlands?

I may be the only one confused about this game but after watching numerious trailers all I seem to know about it is it's four player co-op with hundreds of thounds of guns does this game have a story at all? Can someone give me a quick breakdown of what the game is and if it's a must buy?

It's a shooter/rpg hybrid with a unique art style. Setting is post-apocylaptic. I don't know anything besides that. Oh! And there are over 500 000 kinds of weapons in the game.

Anyone know if it has Offline Co-op?-Hoax-

yes it does have 2 player co-op offline(splitscreen) unlike online which will have4 playerbut no splitscreen at this time(for 2 players offline while online with other people). They may patch that with a future DLC but that is not a sure thing.

This is easily my most anticipated game of the year... It is a RPS (Role Playing Shooter) basically a hybrid of first person shooters such as Call of Duty or Halo with heavy RPG elements for character advancement and customization, as well as a heavy emphasis on Hack n' Slash Loot games such as Diablo or Wow.. The story goes that you are one of four treasure hunters on an abandoned alien planet in search of a rumored alien vault that holds limitless treasure as well as secret alien weaponry... It has a very strong emphasis on Co-op gameplay (both online and offline) and has a near limitless amount of guns and items to pick up...

The way they have so many guns is that they actually created an AI that randomly generates guns acting as certain gun manufacturing companies throughout the giant open world of the game... Each manufacturer uses certain materials, and each have their own distinct styles and specializations... It is an open-world game and throughout it you will take quests from people in towns throughout the world... There's suppose to be about 40-50 quest missions and about 110-130 side missions varying in time and difficulty... Like I said earlier this is the game I am most excited for I've been waiting for this one for well over a year now, and the new art style just makes me want Oct. 20th to come that much sooner

IMO this game looks kinda like fallout except it has on-line and I love fallout so......:D

My brotha is looking into getting this, so ill probably co-op with him.

Earlier this year... A lot of the fans complained because it was a realistic dark post-apocalyptic feeling style... I'm glad they changed it, this game is suppose to have an underlying sense of humor and the art style definitely keeps that up a bit... Plus you can only have so many realistic shooter flooding the market, I don't see why people complain about something new and original

Cell Shading makes this game twice as cool :D

Not exactly cel-shading but I agree it's definitely the right style for a game so original in concept
