Ok so let me get this straight the Assassin's Creed games have turned into a story about armageddon? what the hell, when I first heard of the first game being developed I thought oh my god this is awesome! i'm gonna be an assassin in the middle ages killing people during the third crusade, then I played the game and I find out that it's linked to the modern day and your a descendent of an assassin reliving his past through a machine. This left me extremely disappointed I just wanted a good middle age themed killing game but i've looked past that and enjoyed the games. So now I hear about Assassin's Creed II and I think hey this could be cool an Assassin in a differant time, a story of the Assasins trying to stop the Templars from taking over the world with the pieces of eden. This could still be cool even though there's the cool old time 16th century havingt to be mixed with the modern day crappiness. THEN!

Then I get to the end of the game hey this is cool I killed a pope and took his piece of eden then bam, i'm talking to a prophet telling me the world is gonna end and it's actually happened in the past before like what the hell how could something as simple as an assassin killing people in the middle ages turn into a 21st century armageddon story. Sorry but this just really annoys me everyone i've talked to says how great the next game will be and how great the story is. Modern day time travelling I can accept but an armageddon story coming from a person sticking a few knives into some rulers throats I just can't accept that.

Anyone else feel the same way as me or have similar opinions? I know now that i'm not going to be buying Assassin's Creed III I can't stand to see a series I had so much hope in end so terribly.

I thought it was weird but not terrible, I definitely feel the strength in the AssCreed's story is living through the ancestor and the modern stuff is the weakest part both in story and game-play, I'm definitely looking forward to AssCreed III though.

It's a personal preference, really. Some people like love stories, some people don't. Some people prefer comedies, some people don't. It's the same concept. I personally liked the small twist at the end. Like it or not, Desmond is going to stay with this entire series - tying up all of the events and bridging the history-centered themes of the Assassin's Creed games. We might as well include a world-is-gonna-die story into the mix to add a sense of purpose and doom to the Desmond story line. A lot of people (like you and me) walked into the first game unaware of the Animus twist they were to present at the beginning. Of course there was going to be a division of people who liked the twist and those who didn't. If the story really bothers you that much, then go ahead and ignore the next game, because it'll be a continuation for sure. Personally, I love the plot.

You're right Jackie. I also was kinda confused when found out this game was related to modern world as well. I mean - come on! Medieval times were cool but why do they have to spoil all that stuff by includingmodern days ? Maybe they wanted to make us feel like we really could change something by going back in time and doing stuff that could affect the future. They wanted us to feel like we are still able to change something because without this idea the story would be still entertaining from gaming aspect but you would play it by keeping in mind that medieval times are over and there is no reason to actually fight because everyone has already died many decades ago lol.And that's where all this idea may come from about involving modern days.

I actually loveed Assassins Creed 2's ending. LOVED it. I despised the first game, but they made so many improvements in the sequel, including story wise, that I can't wait for Assassins Creed 3.

Time Machine and modern day really hurts

TJSAGE

For one thing, it's not really current day. It defintely takes place in the future, I'm just not sure of how far. And for another, it's not exactly a time machine, either. It's a device that allows one to visualize and simulate memories of genetic ancestors.

Yeah I love the games too but the story is getting really ******* stupid.Seriously its ridiculus. I bet that people that actually like it enjoy crap movies like transformers 2, 2012, twilight ect.Opinion or not some stories are good and some are bad, really really bad :P.

Just look at action adventure games like Legacy of Kain, The prince of persia trilogy and even God of War and compare them to AC.

If you for example like Spiderman 3 better then the Godfather and think it has a better story what would that say about your opinion? That its worthless maybe?Get it right, having an opinion donest make it less stupid.

But in my opinion you thinking the godfather having a better storyline than spiderman 3 is stupid. And i think that since you dont think that twilight has a good story is a stupid opinion. So really... its all opinion isnt it?

I've been known to rail agains the likes of 2012 and Transformers. Your silly notion is false. Btw, God Of Wars story is absolutely pathetic. A weak revenge story peppered with been there done that greek mythology.

Ya, they pretty much stripped the Templars of all power and significance at the end of AC2. Really lame if you ask me. It went from a cool war between to factions for 1000s of years, to a 2012 end of the world story.

I wouldn't say weak. Just really cliched and over-done.

That works too, though I still wouldn't say is a particularly well done story. Dragon Age's story is pretty much one gigantic cliche from beginning to end, yet it manages to be engaging at all times. God of War.... eh.

I think Kratos is a pretty strong character. It's just a shame that he's stuck doing the same thing and being mad about the same thing in every damn game he appears in. They need to flesh him out more.

And that's kind of unfair to compare GOW to Dragon Age. GOW doesn't have the luxury of Bioware's involvement.

I just found this post, and I'll have to agree with the title "What the Hell", because I felt the exact same way at the end of Assassin's Creed. Any shred of believable storyline was COMPLETELY thrown out the window by the ridiculous Matrix-esque ending that came from way out in left field.

After I saw the ending, all the realism that was brought to Renaissance Italy was completely ruined for me. I did not buy Brotherhood, nor will I be following the series any longer.

I didn't really pay much attention to what was going on in the present time. It was about 1% of the story, and I didn't play the first game so I had no idea what that was all about. Which is unfortunate because I enjoyed the brief time I spent there. The game on a whole was just "good" and kind of fun, but I have no idea why it gets such glowing reviews. That whole prophet (or was it an alien?) thing was sort of interesting, but I guess I messed out on the whole mythos of the franchise, so whatever. It was an easy platinum.

Well it's pretty simple, the story of AC are about Desmond and the present time while every title has another story of a passed away assassin. If anything, the story of the assassins is out of place since the story of the series builds up around Desmond :/

I didn't like the game for different reason, the game design. On the first AC I was so bored doing the same things over and over, then, the second game came out and everyone saying that problem was fixed, fixed my **s :P. You do the exact same thing over and over AGAIN. I gave the franchise 2 chances to win me over, so that was it, no Brotherhood and any other AC for me.

Note: I'm a very patient guy and love single player games, but I couldn't stand AC.

Should have looked into the game then before buying it, it's not like they try to hide this fact or cover it up to make you think the entire game is set in the 1400's.

The game is good btw, give it a try and remain open-minded.
