Latest firmware killed it out of warranty and it's impossible for me to fix because it's not a heat issue (I know, I checked). Anyway now that I got my disc out of the POS3 I'm wondering what to do with it. Post some suggestions, I'll probably do it and take pics along the way.

Can you not get the hidden menu up by holding down the power button as you turn it on?? not sure with the yellow light. my first ps3 stopped reading blue rays so its now a glorified ps2/dvd player for the other room. my suggestion is put it on the stairs then when some one falls over it tell them they broke it and you need a new one :P

How do you know its not a heat issue, you have the proper diagnostic tools to check it? 98% of the time it is a heat issue and the other 2% are HDD or other issues that rarely occur. I would try to fix it my self because I like doing stuff like that, you could try to replace thermal paste on the heat sink and see if it works if you are willing to tear it apart.
