uh oh.... what have I done?

I just thought that the story was hampered by battles that lasted too long causing the plot to break up quite a lot and once the story got going you were sent on several missions at a time which comprised of moving your soldiers, one at a time, slowly along the battlefield. The combat itself felt lacking and none of the weapons seemed to pack a punch.

Although I will admit the charactersare well structured andhave a lot of depth and the graphics are beautiful.

So why is everyone going nuts over it?

Because I liked it and felt it was a refreshing experience. I like everything about it. I thought the gameplay was stellar and the story was pretty well done, even if it felt broken up at times by the battles.

If you don't like it that's fine. It's not for everyone. You're not hurting my feelings :P

If Yoko recommends the game, then it must be a great game.

Because Selvaria is so damn hot and besides, i loved the gameplay, it's just difference in tastes. If you like fast paced FPS and can't stand slow games, or if you just hate anime style for whatever reason, this is probably not for you.

I didn't think that much of it. The combat system didn't make much sense to me and it's mostly moving people around and they auto attack. Woo.

Demon's Souls completely owns it as "the" PS3 rpg.

Its a very good game... but if you don't like it, well that's your opinion and you can't please everybody... but as you said it yourself, everyone is going nuts about it... means majority of those who have played VC liked it... maybe its just not for you... sorry. there are still a lot of games out there that you might enjoy... move on.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the game. I just thought when I was playing it... "This must be the only overrated AND underappreciated game I've played."

I think it was so well recieved because it wasn't expected, had it been hyped up more I think it would have been rated lower. But it's nice and relaxing to play, just like FF9. Most relaxing yet compelling game I've ever played and I just can't explain it. When I hear people talk about VC the way they do it's the same way I speak about FF9.It just... changed the rules, y'know?

I think we should stop hyping Valkryia Chronicles, it's sold all it is going to, and as thanks we get a PSP VC.... Demon's Souls needs our hype now, it deserves it. Just Like Everyone did with Valkryia Chronicles.

The fun comes from deciding what troop type to place where depending on the battle and the situation, possible enemy reaction, which weapons to upgrade/use, etc., rather than from the actual aiming and firing of the weapons.

The game just oozes personality and style. The combat is also challenging but not so hard that you go crazy when you lose. Sure it had it's share of problems but the good parts overshadow the bad.

I've learned to accept that people will hate VC because it brings so many other people happiness. If VC takes any attention from the "masterpieces" known as MGS4 and KZ2, people will bash it. Not saying this is the case here because the TC did say he/she enjoyed it, but I seriously believe since it's not a "badass" game that people hate on it. And because such a "kiddy" game is loved by so many, people can't stand it.

Just my two cents. Probably ridiculous, but just my thoughts.

Interesting... you know, I feel the same way about Bayonetta.

There are always going to be trolls who come around the board and post the usual "LOLOL PARAH SALIN AM HAZ OWN GAEM NAO?" and the Sarah Palin jokes will never stop, but you can't really do anything about it.

As far as I'm concerned, everyone hates Bayonetta because they're jealous that a mastermind like Kamiya is developing a game with a female lead who is in no particular way "badass."

Oh and just a side note to anyone who thinks otherwise: I am not sexually attracted to Bayonetta; I know some of you think I am, but I'm not. I just like her design, is all. I'm attracted to Bayonetta in the exact same way one would be to an exotic sports car.

I am liking the depth of the battle system, getting team mates that work well together and excell in a particular environment, story is great, great art style, love there uniforms.

Only thing I can complain about is the hit boxes, but not hard to get used to that.

I'm also hyped for demon's souls, no aussie release date though :(

Okay, I've figured out why I didn't like it.

There's not enough freedom! This is what I loved about the final fantasy games (up to x-2, uch..), you can free roam and do what you want, be more prepared and decide what you want to do next. I VC, I felt as if you were constantly being told what to do and when.

It seems you're missing the point of the game. It's a strategy RPG; like chess with guns. It's not about weapons that feel like they 'pack a punch' or freedom to explore (it's not a third person shooter or normal JRPG). It's about making your moves strategically to get an advantage and win.

I'm not missing the point at all, you called it strategy/rpg, and A LOT of rpgs and strategy games let you work at your own pace and free roam (such as final fantasy games AND the civilization series.) There's nothing wrong with wanting more from a game.

Don't worry, I get your point. I don't think you said disliked the game, but what you're saying is that you prefer games with more exploration and free roaming capabilities. Valkyria Chronicles does not give you room to explore, so you prefer games like FF that give you that option. I get it. I think.

I guess strategy games aren't your thing then. Any strategy game I have played didn't have any free-roaming stuff except for Nippon ichi games in which there is just a Hub. Is that what you want? To see Welkin running past the same guard in the militia camp all the time?

A LOT of strategy games have a HUGE amount of freedom, the civilization series in particular. Can we just let it go now and just say welike different styles of games, I just wanted to find out what it was people liked about VC and I can like what I want.

Ok then, what I liked was how tactical it was. And the amount of freedom you have on the field. From all the RTS and SRPG I've played they all had either a grid and/or were bird's eye view. With such simple mechanics on the field there was still so many different ways to execute whatever plan I had in mind whether it be rush in guns blazing or go in sneaky with snipers or fire away with tanks and mortars. The game also has a good challenge with only a few A.I. flaws.
