I was in the mood to get a new cool RPG and looked at a couple including Dragon Age Origins. Apparently the graphics and whatever aren't as good on the consoles as it is for the PC, but in one of the reviews I read, some guy said that he had to reboot his PS3 because of some problem with the game. I just wanted to know what this was and what caused this so-called PS3 failure?

There is no widespread issue like that concerning the game.

To me i hated it. Story was ok but the graphics and lame camera was a let down. On console its always on your back and to do skills the game pauses. On pc itfeels like an MMORPG.If i bought this on PC i would most likely play it alot and love it more.

There was no problem that i encountered when i played. Works fine fast load times too.

For some reason i played it on the ps3 originally and it was horrribly laggy, i had no idea. It was unbearable. Plus the controls weren't great. I switched to pc and i liked it better it had much easier controls and i had no lag issues (i have a decent pc).

I dunno about laggy maybe you are super far ahead of me where there are big battles? but i agree that the controls were horrible. Didnt wanna throw down more money just for the PC.

Well i borrowed it from a friend so i never actually bought the ps3 version. As for the lag it was lagging right off the bat from the first cutscene all through the first town. It drove me nuts and it wasn't little hiccups it was complete lag like 10-15 fps.

I've played through it 3 times now and I've only had one problem with on my first playthrough, were the game glitched and wouldn't let me through a door to continue my mission. I saved, restarted and the problem was gone. other than that I love the game.

There's nothing "wrong" with it. It's pretty typical for a PC game to be slightly better than the console version. The only things that could screw that up are bad DRM schemes, or if they do an unacceptable "port" from a console developed game without optimizing for the capabilities of a high end PC. PC will always be the best platform for a game like this. Mouse and keyboard gives more efficient menu/item access for most people. Some people don't care and prefer to play games with controllers anyway. Graphically obviously any game released across all platforms (PC and consoles), the PC version will have much higher max settings if you have a gaming rig capable of running it at max settings. The consoles probably run at low or mid settings for a game like Dragon Age. That being said the PS3 version is at least much better than XBOX360 version, and there is nothing "wrong" with either version. Supposedly PS3 has the better graphics/textures - but the 360 version runs a little smoother. Most reviews gave the PS3 the overall edge. The game got what, a 9.0 for PS3??? So it got a 9.5 on PC. It's a solid game any way you go. If you don't have a gaming PC than there's really no point worrying about what is "wrong" with the game compared to a version you cannot experience.

yup...the few minor issues had already been patched. However, that is not to say that I personally like the game. I found the story and characters bland and the combat system too boring :P

It follows the KOTOR RPG formula a little to rigidly. Badly outdated visuals kept the world from being very immersive or atmospheric, and the silent protagonist felt like a huge step back from the fully voiced Commander Shephard of Mass Effect fame. (twice, one for each gender) Decent characters though, for the most part. Would love a well written book adaptation, but as a game, it failed to capture me.

I agree. I was really not feeling this game at all. I was kind of shocked since it came from BioWare.

1. EA

2. Edge of Reality totally butchered the port for both console platforms

3. ZERO customer supoort

4. Refer to 1.

5. Console owners paid more for the game and got less. PC came with mod tools.

6. EA

Lets face it the BW we all knew and grew up with is dead. It is now EA/BW and that is what was wrong with the PS3 version of DA:O.

I personally had no problems with it. I thoroughly enjoyed it (though the Fade sequence was the most drawn out, plot-halting part in a game ever.) PC or console version I couldn't care less about, used to play MMO's religiously and their respective controls get pretty bland after a while. I'm a console gamer at heart, and I prefer a controller in my hands.

Yeah the game was good but. There are a few graphic issues I could see. Like there was color Ganges and so etines the camera would flip out
