What was your selling point?

What I mean is: what is the one or several features that convinced you to shell out your cash for a PS3? I'm just curious to see what reasons we get here.

Personally, I knew that MGS4 was coming, along with God of War III. I've been with those series from the start and have loved them enough to see them to the end. Also, the FREE online play was a factor for sure. Blueray wasn't big for me at first, as up until recently I didn't have an HDTV.

1. Franchises - MGS and God of War top the list
2. New IPs - Resistance and Uncharted top the list
3. Free online gaming and games like Warhawk and Socom
4. Great controller
5. Hardware seems really well designed and reliable
6. I like the way Sony supports their systems longterm

Those are the main selling points.

Blu-Ray! Hopefully, Littlebigplanet and KZ2 will be two more reasons down the line.

The selling point was exclusive games. I bought the PS3 when it first came out because i thought a lot more games would have come out soon after release but am still waiting on them. I think other people are in the same boat as most of the games mentioned in this thread that people bought the PS3 for is still to come out.

It my own fault for beliving Sony's hype. It wouldn't be to bad if i didn't own a 360 as i would have multi-plateform games to play buy Sony let me down on them as well as the 360 usually has the better version or a couple of extra usefull features for playing online with friends.

many many things, but knowing Naughty Dog had a new IP for the system really grabbed me. Crash and Jak were awesome games, and i was sure their next game would be awesome too... i wasn't disappointed.

1> wireless first party controllers for all playstation titles (especially PS2)

2> MGS4

3> BluRay Player

-It really is a treat to have 4 dual shock 3 controllers for split screen multiplayer. So far, only have one, but will have them all soon.

It was the Blu-Ray for me, as well as the first party Sony games. I loved most of them last gen, I expect I will love them this gen. Motorstorm was a good start, and Little Big Planet influenced my decision much more than the upcoming MGS4.

I started with the Playstation and moved up to the PS2. Buying a PS3 seemed like the logical choice. :lol:

Disgaea series is exclusive to Sony, so, that, and Valkyrie Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles and XIII :DAndrew_Xavier

Basically everything, the brand, MGS, FF all that stuff. I really can't nail it down to one thing in particular.

I know about it, but, it's just disgaea 1: afternoon of darkness like the PSP version, I'm talking about Disgaea 3 and beyond here... though, I'm admittedly happy about being able to play disgaea 1 on my ds, as I don't have a psp.

i just felt that the ps3 was the best console for me.. and i did not come to this decision without a thourough investigation...

my roomate in college had a 360.. which i spent many hours playing what seemed to be the best/only game worth playing for it, at the time.. i enjoyed it.. almost to the point where i wanted to buy a 360.. but honestly.. i looked at the upcomming releases.. and realized it might not be the best for me..

same with the Wii.. i had a friend who purchased the Wii.. and we had many nights fo Wii parties.. and then realized.. what about those times when im tired and lazy and dont feel like standing up making eradic movements..

With that said.. i spent some time with a PS3.. and seeing as i owned a psp.. and i loved my ps2.. everything about it appealed to me.. from the look of the console to the interface.. to the titles available as well as the future sony franchises and exclusive.. I'm a Metal Gear fan.. and MGS4 is more arousing to me than anything else..

but in the end.. its my preference of game types.. each console is fit for its own "type" of games.. and with the Multiplatform releases starting to be fair for both systems.. its a win/win situation no matter what console you go with.. just be sure that you dont get that sense of fanboy pride.. or feel that you have to defend your purchase...

1. the franchises i love are on sony platforms

1a. it doesn't break down as often as 360

2. i love the controller better than 360's.

2) I knew that eventually many RPGs would come to the PS3, as they did with the PS2, Disgaea 3, FF XIII are already on their way.

3) Blue ray is always good to have.

4) I've never liked the x-box controller set-up. PS is more symetrical

Wii- Nintendo made it

PS3- JRPGs, MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII

360- Ninja Gaiden 2, JRPGs that didn't come to the PS3. 360 was the last console I bought. I really tried to hold out for a long time. :(

When the price dropped,I picked up mine in Feb.I'm a SONY fan and when it first came out,it was a a little to pricey for me.I ended up purchasing a Xbox360 which I have not regretted but since getting my PS3,my 360 is back in it's box and in my closet with my Sega Master System, Sega Genesis,Playstation 1,Playstation2.So it's in good company and not lonely....:P

I will take it back out when Gears Of War 2 comes out......Lauryn2000

hey same with me lol but i wasnt a sony fan but after the rrod incident im scared to play my 360 and its only for exclusives now but the main reason i bought it was for ratchet and clank to be honest i love the series and the new game was and still is a blast p;us i get a ps1, 2, and 3 in the same system i love it oh yeah and final fantasy 13 i love the final fantasy franchise
