Here are the "That" games. I separate them into their specific genres as each brings something completely new to the table. By the way I am not counting non-exclusives as they will be equally "That" for other systems. I am not addressing all genres, only the ones that I am most familiar with. My sources are easily viewable on various gaming sites and most are pulled directly from video previews with devs.
Action: Heavenly Sword
Reason: They have been working on this game since 2003 and have been pushing the envelope on it's gameplay and design. The animations are said to be the most robust of any game yet, many from motion-capture using pins on real subjects. The gameplay includes a variety of moves which allow for different combos. The complex fighting systems also makes use of the environment and enemies. Additionally, the enemies feature heightened A.I. When surrounded by multiple enemies, the AI will cause them to form appropriate phalanxes to challenge the character. Additionally, the graphics are amazing with the cut-scenes and gameplay harmoniously flowing into each other.
First-Person Shooter: Wardevil
Reason: This game features similar combat as all other FPS. The main significant difference is that this game features cinematic quality gameplay that makes one feel like they are in a movie. This game will show the current PS3 graphical capabilities at an impressive 1080p with a constant 60 frames per second. Hopefully there is an online component.
RPG: Final Fantasy XIII
Reason: There shouldn't need to be a lengthy explanation for this choice. Square has defined RPGs for the last 10 or so years and plans to re-define them, changing Final Fantasy forever, making the world lasting and substantial for other storylines. Additionally, they plan to include a new battle system which challenges the previous RPG "turn-based" doctrines on many series of games. Final Fantasy is ultimately becoming more real-time and action-based. This battle system will take advantage of the PS3s processing ability due to the speed at which gameplay proceeds and the cinematic quality of the graphics being rendered.
Arcade: Little Big Planet
Reason: This game allows users to create and publish their own levels with amazing tools. The objects used to create the levels are dynamic, allowing true physics and unlimited choices. Players will be able to publish their levels online, which will then be ranked. Additionally, htey will be able ot join up with their friends at home or online to tackle these levels.
