what will divx support do the ps3?

the update is coming tomorow so i want to start converting videos. will divx support mean that the ps3 will be able to play avi. files that use the divx codec or will it only play the actual divx files that you use with the divx player on the pc?

has anyone tried it with the 360 yet? the support should be the same.

and since the update will also support wmv which should i use? size vs quality which is better wmv or divx?

I have tried files using the divx and xvid codecs on the 360 all in .avi containers. They all worked. Quality was pretty good. I haven't tried an actual DviX file yet. smashadams00733
