What would happen if I just ripped off the cover of the ps3?

Have an 80 gb backwards compatible ps3

Need to get it open

T10 torx screw not coming till next week

Game I've been waiting to play since 2008 just came in the mail today

None of my flat head screws are the right size

cover of the ps3 kind of loose

Do you think i would be a terrible idea to try to just rip it off?

Same thing that happens if you rip off Iron Man's chestplate, your going to get a Uni Beam to the face. So in other words, not a wise course of action.

Well as long as you know how to put it back together.... I wouldn't do it though. And if you do make sure to unplug your ps3 from the electrical outlet.

You would probably be sucked into a Tron-esque world inside the PS3.:P

Honestly no idea since I'm hesitant to do anything to my PS3.:?

Having completely dismantled 5 ps3s down to the mother board and put them all back together in working order.......nothing. There is absolutely nothing underneath the faceplate held on by the torque screw. The first time I fixed my old ps3 I didnt have a torque screwdriver so I just ripped off the faceplate. There is a little clip where the screw is that will break but nothing else will happen. Promise.

I trust you. HEre I go. I will do it There is so much at stake though. If I screw everything up, I will effectively have no video game console but the Wii..and that...is terrible.. I sold my 360 to get this...I am flat broke.. I finally got Disgaea 3....finally..after all these years I can finally catch up completely with the Disgaea series If I screw this up Everything will be for naught HERE GOES EVERYTHING

Lol, I wouldn't mess with my PS3 insides. It's not a PC. So yeah, I'd say it's not a wise action.

Lol. Trust me if you kill your PS3 by tearing the faceplate off, you did something horribly wrong because none of the hardware is exposed even after you take the faceplate off. May I ask why you need to take it off though?

I was victorious.

I had to get inside the PS3 because the ribbon on the Blu ray drive was loose and because of that I couldn't play any games.
