so i've been hearing about the possibility that sony may be gearing up to do a relaunch of the psp go, i mean i hope its a re-launch the lack of mention of the go lately by sony means 1 of 2 things: re-launch, or complete abandonment. so what would sony have to do to make the psp go a good purchase?

i own a go but i feel that sony needs to drop the price at least 50$ and make at least 90% of the psp game catalog available on the psn (being realistic here).

If I could go to the store buy a physical copy and receive a digital copy as well then I wouldn't have a problem with the go. What happens to all your content if Sony goes bankrupt or 20 years from now will you still be able to re download the games? I collect my games so the Psp go isn't a welcome edition to my games/console collection.

Yeah, I understand that part I'm a collector too.

If sony could add a umd port with that slim design and still look nice with a $50 price drop. I'd be willing to buy one.

A number of things. Either of it will do. - Update the PSN store so that it holds ALL games available. - Update the console with a UMD drive - Make a cheap, affordable bundle with a dozen or so games, to justify a price for buying essentially crippled hardware. I think the latter is their best solution as a company, as hardware sales are more profitable than software anyway.

What would make me buy a go?

Perhaps a Totalitarian police state where we had to show our Go in order to pass the checkpoint? If it were a matter of life or death, perhaps...

... like NAZI GERMANY.

you sir must have some tiny hands and I already have a go I considered it at launch ,but that tag was a little to high for me. Then they went ahead with that 3 games deal and I figured well my 2000 I already had to repair the UMD drive (tin foil for the win) and I only own 4 UMDs why not. And I love it its more portable and comfortable it looks better its so nice not caring UMDS

Better PSN support. Although some people still wouldn't buy it since they still prefer actual physical copies of games.

It's a sexy little beast of a piece of hardware, no argument. But, I have a 16G card so I carry the same amount of games you do and then I have the option of a few UMDs... I just don't get it. And now we're having the same conversation in two threads. Fan-Tastic.

You know what? You win. I'll buy one just to stop getting caught in threads like this!

Peace. This is officially the last post I will make in a Go oriented thread until I actually own one... so...

... never, I suppose.

Been fun while it lasted. Seriously, enjoy. I don't hate the hardware, I simply don't understand it. And I STILL say that the kid in the commercials is speaking a half-truth when he holds up the PSP and says there are 500 games available. If he's holding up a Go, that's boarderline actionable as false advertizing. If it's a 3000, then he's legal.

Guess I'm watching the press conference again, I gotta know which model he's holding as he says that about the available library... because there is no way the Go has over 500 titles available. No Way.

Anyway, I'm out. Much respect.

:D

My old 2000 finally got it's last rights and I sold all my games about 3 years ago and then I got a Go and the big thing I like about it is, the screen has no interlacing issues and it's much brighter than the old psp 3000/2000 versions and with that also comes my 2 biggest gripes about the Go is that the shiny black plastic makes it a little hard to see at times when it's daylight (this also happened with my old 2000 model) and if you had an older psp, it's a little hard at first to adjust to the new system layout but it also gets better after you use it for awhile.

More games. I only have seven UMD games and I'll never get another one as long as I can download them. Although, I'm too tight on money to actually buy a system I already have.

Yeah, that's the only way I would ever consider a PSP Go. I want to actually own some part of my games. With DD you're merely paying to lease the content for an indefinite period of time. If Sony goes under, as you say, or even if they just lose interest in the video game market, no one is obligated to continue to support their digital service.

I've been considering getting a PSP Go for a while now, and the main thing stopping me is that I just don't feel confident that after the sales disaster that this thing appears to be, that Sony will continue to support it in the years to come. I can definitely see the PSP Game section of PSN disappearing when the next PSP comes out, thus making the system a brick limited to whatever games you already bought.

It would have to be 150 or less and they'd have to let me somehow download my hard copies of games I have. If we could register them on the site and receive a unique download code I'd be all over the PSP Go, or at least much more open to buying it.

Well I still play my twenty year old Game Boy games. I'd still be playing my NES games too if I still had them [and an NES]. And I know there are people who still play their Atari 2600 games.

Well to each there own I guess the only game I see myself playing 20 years from now is Gitaroo Man. Outside of persona 4 and gran turismo my ps2 has been ignored since I got my PS3 and my xbox died the second the 360 came out (other then espn nfl 2k5). Rarely will I go back unless I truly love a game like Persona 4 or MGS3 or Harvest Moon or OOT. The PSP has great games but outside of gitaroo man i cant think of a game where I go hmm 20 years from now ill totally whip out burnout legends. Hell I have trouble going back to great ps1 games go back and play FFVII playing that game by todays standards is rough and unless you get why this was awesome at the time or love the story you will hate that game

no i have big hands actually, so the little pspGo felt too small. not comfortable at all. the psp2000 fits just right IMO. and you dont HAVE to carry around UMDs with a psp2000 either. They have access to the SAME playstation store. Its good that some people like the GO, but I honestly wouldnt buy one for $50, because my psp2000 works great. and I dont like getting ripped off on digital download games. UMDs used = WAY cheaper.

Had one sold it.

primary concern? future support for the PSN store looked shaky, and the dry up of the past titles showing up on the PSN store.

I mean i don't mind the price of the games really.

but its

The library - including hte past library (as much as humanely and licensingly possible)

and

Be like Steam in that your aggressive in your sales to ensure two things.... software sales, and brand loyalties.. not only to the service but also to the games available (publishers/ developers)....

I have to agree. My reasons: The body..it's uncomfortable with my hands. I have big hands, the PSP 3000 starts to hurt after a while, let alone the GO..it's just too small (yes there is such a thing with a handheld gaming device). Plus the L&R trigger buttons suck. They're just not comfortably functional when gaming. I think Sony went for appearance over functionality in terms of the physical design (digital media aspect, set aside). My other problem is also the digital media. It's just ridiculous to limit people to digital-only games. UMD's weren't the best, but I prefer some form of physical medium. I mean, I have an iPad and lots of media on it..(movies, games, etc). But even for gaming, I don't like the idea of digital-only, which is WHY I still game with my PSP and my DS. Anyhoo, that's my 2 cents.

UMD transfer. I don't know how Sony would implement something like that (and I'd imagine they felt the same way since it doesn't exist).
