I like everything about my 60GB (now a 250GB) PS3, but it wouldn't hurt to have in game XMB.

1) Independent voice chat. Sometimes I would like to just call up a friend online anytime I like, even if I'm playing a single player game. Ya know?

2) Access to voice chat, friends, texting, photos and your music while you are in game. Being able to boot up the web browser while in game would be great too.

3) Custom soundtracks for any game you want.

And thats it. All of those can be added with firmware updates, I just hope Sony add these options soon...They are taking TOO long.

You do have the power to change your hard drive. It's easy and you can get a 120GB for around 60 bucks or get a 250GB for the price of a 360's 120GB drive.

Hardware/software-wise, I'm good.

Similar idea to the blu-ray changer, but a blu-ray burner would be sweet ;)

I would have kept backwards compatibility in for everyone who bought a PS3 (and improved on the software emulation for those who already have it). I would also like to put in modular GPUs so once nVidia comes out with the next revision, people can have the option to upgrade. Bigger RAM would be nice, but not necessary (better coding can fix most of the RAM hoggin'). The option for the PS3 to have auto-shutdown would be great too -- too often I watch videos or DVDs on my PS3 before I fall asleep and wake up the next morning to find I forgot to turn my PS3 off.

EDIT: To bruce-leroy, the codec support is somewhat improving with the next firmware release (coming out next week I believe).

One of the things I love about the PS3 is that you can upgrade certain internal devices without voiding the warranty. Upgrades are schweet. :)

I'd put full PS2 compatibility in all models. I'd increase the base hard drive size to 160 GB. I'd add support for in game chat (not in game XMB), and finally I'd add support for playing my own music in game (once again not in game XMB).
