All I really want for them to do is go back to what made Morrowind so great and apply modern touches to it. More skills again, the ability to pick and choose all the pieces of armor and clothing you wear instead of everything coming together and in pairs, non-scaling enemies, more diversity in environment and most importantly, a story that isn't completely horrible.
The gameplay changes and graphics in Oblivion were definitely an improvement, but instead of updating the series they pretty much abandoned it, dumbed it down to a mindless action game, and completely forgot the charm that made the previous ones great. TES5, ideally, would have much of Morrowind and Daggerfall's UI, atmosphere, deep dialogue and quests, and gear/skill customization with Oblivion's improved combat (which can still use plenty of improvement itself).
1. Better combat, I'd like something a bit more fun than: swing sword until enemy is dead.
2. More voice actors!
3. Co-op. TES definitely is inspired by classic fantasy, well most classic fantasy has a party of multiple people rather than one person.
4. Classes mean something. Make it feel different every time I try a different class, don't just tweak my stats!
5. Better rogues. This is more of a personal irritation. If I'm playing a rogue/thief/etc. and I sneak up behind someone with a dagger, I want to cut their throat not slash at their back for bonus damage!
On combat i want your sword swing to not be the same every time. I want it to go for the best opening, increase in speed etc. as your skill increases.
On the bows i want it too to be more like F3's gunplay was. It would be amazing if they gave you an option to aim down the shaft of the arrow too.
The ability for mages to change their shape and form that would be cool being arch mage and being able to change into a dragon :D
1) No more leveled monsters or items. 2) Better crime system.
Those are the main things I can think of right now.
