if it was designed for either, then it shouldnt matter which.
common sense?

Actually, I heard that the vertical alignment will harm the console over time ...
obviously just a little bit, but I'm not taking any chances

either way is perfectly fine
I heard that vertical is worse for the consoleabdelmessih101Depends on the build quality of the drive. If it's anything like the X360, then place it horizontal. Being vertical can cause the laser to work a lil harder if magnet on the motor isn't ship shape. The magnet is what keeps the disc in place while spinning @ high speeds. I've seen peoples magnets come right off & be laying within the drive. That's one bad thing...I really wish MS would have made a more reliable system *SMH*

Not what I heard, but ok. I heard that it has something to do with the weight of the console.
The point is that you should go horizontal just to be safe.

You're referring to PS3 i assume? X360 is a normal DVD drive with tray, you can tell when u place a disc vertical & close, its wobbly. PS3 being a slotload, may be different? Either way, im placing mine horizontal when i get it...it looks better anyways.Isn't built for both ways?cjbieva
That's what i thought...in everypic i see of the ps3 it's standing vertical. Oh well i have mine vertical and it works just fine
I like to have my ps3 suspended in airspinning and rotating at all times.ryank285
Haha like Tommy Lee from motley crew?
For me though I choose horriztonal cause my stupid new dog knocks into everything when he's running around the house. He is such a big and clumsy idiot.

agreed...lets say you drop something on your ps3...the most damage would be done if it were placed horizontally.

u are just saying that because you keep your horizontal, i believe vertical because unlike horizontal, it lets air flow away from the ps3 easier while horizontal traps more air between the console and the surface it is on. It makes sense, but I'm sure that horizontal probably wont do the system any bad, unless it is in a very tight space.*Interesting Fact*
The PS symbol
can move so that
which ever way
you have the
console it can be
in the correct position.
Isn't that cool!?hilltops
lol I did notice that...
I have mine vertical as I prefer the way it looks vertically as well as it DOES keep it slightly cooler. I use to have mine horizontally and every once in a while my ps3 would freeze up when playin oblivion... possibly because of the heat? Well ever since ive stoood it up... ive Never had it freeze once. Coincidence? possibly
Apparently the ps3 runs cooler horizontally. Lucky for me I've had mine horizontal from day one. :Dperdition24
You'd be wrong... its runs cooler vertically.
It works perfect either way. I have had mine horizonal for a while and now it's standing vertical (tends to run at a slightly lower temp standing vertical). Also if you notice the way the name is placed on the PS3 when it's horizonal the name doesn't look as good as when it's standing vertical.jimm895
I guess you don't know that the logo is rotatable. Go try it now.

Drives aside, im trying to figure out how the PS3 looks better vertically? The X360 is of equal shape on both sides, so it looks good vertical. Correct me if im wrong, but doesn't the PS3 have 1 flat side & the other side buldges out? Doesn't that look wierd? I guess i'll see when i get mine tomorrow *shrug*E M I N 3 M
since that flat side is the base when horizontal, u can put it next to a wall/object. My PS3 looks **** standing beside my tv. and if i ever get a flat screen hanging on a wall, i'm gonna place my PS3 below the tv with the flat side on the wall, so that i can see the curved side with the Playstation 3 label showing
