I just play everything on 720p settings, simply because it's alot smoother compared to 1080i, which seems to lag a bit too often.

Well since my tv natively supports 720p, I set my ps3 to output to that just so my tv won't have to do too much extra work.

720p makes things too dark; especially when I play MGS4. 1080i makes things a lot brighter.

when i played MGS4 for the first time, it was on 1080i.. and i didnt even realize untill the second time i played. you usually should play games in 720p and movies in 1080i.. but MGS4 ran perfect on 1080i (no lag, no screen tearing)

You should play games at your television's native resolution. Chances are if you have a 720p TV that the native resolution is 720p. Your tv may accept a 1080i signal, but it doesn't display it at 1080i. The TV more than likely downscales the signal to 720p, and portions of it get lost in the translation. Some TV's are better than others at it.

My TV supports up to 1080i but I keep everything set to no more than 720p because everything seems to look so much better at this setting.

let me explain

720p is good for motion in picture so fast move ment and 1080i is good for a clear picture but is poor in other aspects like movement basicly I stands for interlaced with switches between vertical and horizontal lines and P is for progresive with is better because at the same resolution say 1080i to 1080p 1080p looks much better and the framerate much better and for all u guys looking for 1080p tv's make sure it is panasonic or pionier because the rest are actully 71 and the other lines have been computerised with is poor and make sure u get from a well known store like John lewis cause otherwase u may get ripped off with a second grade tv make sure it is a first grade
