What's going on with my brand new PS3

I got a PS3 for my birthday this Saturday, I was really excited. My dad got me Socom 4 and the new Mortal Kombat. And my mom got me the PS3 bluetooth mic. So I played the Socom 4 campaign for about an hour. So I said to myself, "OK let me try out some online" So I tried to connect to the Playstation Network and it took the longest to get in, so I tried again and I got an error message. I kept trying all night but I couldn't get online? Is there something wrong with my PS3 did I get a defective one?

Please tell me you are joking? If not suggest you spend 30 seconds on-line at a news site and then you'll feel very silly for posting here!!

Sony won't let anyone play Socom online until they finish the single player. There are some straight up nightmare beasts running around onlineand they want to protect you until you are ready for battle.

The network is down , it might be up by the end of the week.

the network is fine, it's your ps3, just take it back and exchange it, i just got done playing against a team of camping nade tossers so i rage quit and came here to get some tips

come on people, stop confusing him and tell him the truth. psn is down (and has been for about 3 weeks) due to someone hacking into the psn and none of us know when the psn will be back up

get a ruler, and jab it in the disk drive. Poke around the back left side, sometimes the PSN switch in there gets turned off. The ruler will push it and turn it back on
