Well you were playing an unfinished build of the game, so it's not fair to judge. I've read several reviews for the game and apparently it has some of the best multiplayer on the block.

I really do hope 8 is not the max no. of players allowed online. It really needs 16 atleast.

We wont know until We play the final build of the game, everyone who has played the game has loved it with no downsides to the game.

The worst i've heard of the game is A.) some of the stealth combat can be difficult, and B.) the story has to end.

sure it is. A beta serves as the best proxy for what the final built will be like (we're talking about MP here). Unless something is completely off and ND is aware of it, do you honestly think the final built will be notably different from what you've experienced playing the beta? Seriously, when was the last time a dev team fundamentally altered how a game handled and/or played from its beta version.

I've read several reviews for the game and apparently it has some of the best multiplayer on the block.Tikicobra

I guess its just one of those things that you either like or don't like. I've been playing the beta for quite sometime now and I can gladly say that it is the best multiplayer since cod4!

I also think that it is some of the best multiplayer around. I have had more fun with the 2nd beta(one currently running) than some full games multiplayer, Killzone 2 is fun and Demons souls, along with LBP but that is in my list of favorite multiplayer. Oh and 16 people would be too big for Uncharted unless they were to make bigger maps, I like to have a little space to plan my actions not just run around and blindly gun.

I never understood that logic. I mean what can be so different in the final game that can completely change somebody's opinion?

And TC, you don't HAVE to like Uncharted 2. The world is big enough for diverging opinions. That being said, I LOVE the beta and can't wait to play the final product.

If you were really in the beta you would know the max number of players is 10, not 8 like you think.

Not to be rude but you clearly don't understand the difference between a BETA and a Demo.

"The term "beta" refers to a piece of software or web application that's still being developed."

Which means it's initial purpose is to locate and fix bugs. Alot can change, graphics, controls, bug fixes, some things removed, some things added. I hope now you understand the other posters sound logic.

Ummm. . .did you play the first Uncharted? That's all I need to know Uncharted 2 is going to rock.

@above

It's really nothing like Gears of War except that they are both third person games with guns. similarities end there.

I'd pay full price just to be able to play the demo. Call me crazy but I think it's tons of fun even though I completely suck at it and get extremely frustrated. It's really my first online multiplayer game though so take that for what it's worth.

Uh, I know what a beta is. And you didn't answer my question. What's so different between a beta and a final product? Because all the things you've enumerated are merely about the polishing of a game. They won't completely change one's gaming experience. They won't make a person's opinion turn upside down.

Read what the TC said in his opening post:

So tell me, how will polished graphics, tightened controls, bug fixes, "some things removed" and "some things added" change his opinion if he didn't like the core of the game? Because the core of the game will remain the same.

OK, it really depends on what about the gameplay he didn't like. I mean that's a pretty broad statement. I see what your saying but I still don't think someone should base a game purchase on a BETA. Maybe he didn't like the core gameplay as you say but to me bug fixes and tweaks to controls would change the core of the game but that's just me. I don't expect everyone to like the same stuff and that's fine, I just didn't get what you were trying to say when you said you didn't understand the logic of not basing opinions on a BETA. Although alot can change from the BETA to the final build which may enhance a persons expierence while playing.

Here is a section, copypasted directly from wikipedia.

Thus far Uncharted 2 has received high critical acclaim.

The first publication to review Uncharted 2 was the French edition of PSM3. In their review, they called the game "Long, visually stunning, deep and explosive, Uncharted 2 combines all the qualities you can find in a videogame, and more! A new milestone has been reached in the videogame history." The magazine awarded the game its first ever, 21/20. The second review was by Playstation: The Official Magazine, which awarded the game a perfect score. In their review, they stated, "Forget Game of the Year. This is one of the greatest games of all time!". IGN gave the game a 9.5 out of 10, saying "No, Uncharted 2 is not perfect, but it's closer than pretty much any other game out there these days." Gamesradar gave it 10/10, saying "Simply put, Uncharted 2 is a reason to own a PS3."

Awards

At Sony's E3 media briefing, an Uncharted 2 gameplay demo was shown early in the conference. Critics were very impressed with the demo, which led many to believe Uncharted 2 to be a unanimous competitor for "Game of The Year" with Uncharted 2 winning the most E3 awards of any game, according to its website's home page, including:

  • Game Critics Awards 2009
    • Best of Show
    • Best Console Game
    • Best Action/Adventure Game

What's so good about Uncharted 2? We won't know until we get to play the story mode now will we. I was in the first MP beta and hated it. That's right, HATED it. I'm still looking forward to the game though for the single player portion of the game. Don't let the lackluster MP sway you from what will definitely be a thrilling story in single player.

You do that the multiplayer out now is a DEMO and not a beta. The beta was earlier this year, so it is fair to judge.

IGN gives out 9's like butter cookies at Christmas

Uncharted 2 won't be much diff from the first one. It will have better graphics and more environments to explore, but it will still play more like a shooter than an adventure game. (which is too bad considering that the base macanics don't cut the mustard for a shooter)

The only good thing about the multiplayer is it has coop and a good party system. But since the gamplay mechanics aren't good for a shooter, the multiplayer won't be that great IMO. Atleast the single player will have good blockbuster action sequences and cintimatic storyline

You know, It doesn't matter how good a game is. There is always someone on this forum that bashes whatever game they think will stir people up the most. This post wasn't really one of these cases but what's the deal with people that just post to bash a game..? If you like or dislike a game it seems more useful to write a review rather than coming on here and saying "What's so good about {some game}"

That about sums it up. :D To people who can't find something to love about Uncharted 2, I would recommend reconsidering gaming as a hobby. For all of the genres that Uncharted 2 is a part of, there are very very few games that do it as good or better than U2.

You can't really tell much about the game by the online multiplayer. It's just shooting, reaction time and accuracy. That's only a small portion of what will be in the single player campaign. There will of course be a story, cutscenes, exploring, platforming, a bit of puzzle solving, etc.

Not every one has the game yet. But people who do have it will tell you its a great game for graphics, gameplay, and story. Why don't you look on metacritic and read the reviews and see for yourself.

This is just my opinion, but I like Uncharted 2's multiplayer a lot more than MGO. MGO's controls were not the best for online gaming, having to manually equip everything (grenades, and all other weapons on the same slot, etc). Plus the pacing and map layouts are a lot better in Uncharted 2 (again, my opinion). Also I've never been one to like a whole lot of people playing online in one room, gets too hectic. Therefore a nice 5v5 for Uncharted 2 makes for a good game where it can't be cheap deaths. Not all games need a large amount of players, that's what different games are for. Once again, this is all opinionated, and I respect yours, so if you don't want to play it, then feel free.

It is max 10 online, like the Beta. These are not overly large maps. Also you have to factor in this is the heaviest game graphically on the console, so it may have struggled with 16 players on a map. This game imo is a cross between Assassin's Creed and Gears of War for its gameplay. There is always something going on and group play is needed if you want to roll around smoke people. I find a lot of mics when I play, which is great (easy muting too). It has the best MP setup for partying up imo. The scaling of buildings to get to higher points is what pulls the game away from other 3rd person shooters. What you have to keep in mind, this is not a FPS (Killzone 2), but a 3PS. So sometimes its a bit different for the shooting. I like how you can scroll around perfectly when holding a wall, without your guy popping off, like in Vegas 2.

never have that problem. the guns have great recoil on them, which is nice. I find 1-2 shot bursts work awesome on AK, the M4 is like butter. Pistols are deadly accurate, lots of headshots.
