What's so great about Uncharted?

I don't understand. I truly don't. I'm not trying to troll; I think Uncharted was a good game. But why is everyone praising it with astonishment and anticipating Uncharted 2 like Halo 3? I can't find much special about Uncharted, except for the graphics. The question has been lingering in my head for a long time, I just have to wonder why Uncharted is so amazing to people? I thought it was a good game. Maybe I'll play it again, but please enlighten me. Don't treat me as an enemy though, as I truly want to know, and am not trolling.

The voice acting and cut-scenes are amoung the best if not thee best I've ever seen in a game.

I agree that Uncharted 1 was not quite amazing.
However, when it comes to the hype, i thinkkk, its more that Uncharted 1 setup several elements of much potential that might not have been fully fleshed out in the original.

-the gameplay form of platformer/shooter/brawler. (a bit too heavy on the shooting, which was unsatisfying)

-Nate suprisingly has quite a bit of character to him for a guy that wears a white shirt and jeans.

-the relationship between the characters feels quite genuine. and judging from what we've seen of the 2nd, the dynamic between nate and elena (with the obstacles of middlemen such as chloe) seems to be heating up.

-The sense of environment is great

I dont know why people are stoked on the multiplayer tho. I think thats just fanboyism. The weapon selection and gunplay is not satisfying. I bet PC gamers just laugh at cows that brag about u2's multiplayer.

I myself cannot play games more than a hour at a time as i have a short attention span. However, i completed Uncharted in one sitting. Thats gotta say something for me as to why i liked it. Maybe you carn't buy into the hype surrounding Uncharted 2, but i believe it's gettnig the hype it deserves.

Uncharted was fun, it was refreshing and different to what was out on the PS3. The story was good, the gameplay was fun, the levels were varied and settings not like what we've seen in most games. The graphics were pretty, the AI was smart... the game was great. Not everyone has to think so.. just because i like it doesn't mean you will. :P Rattlesnake_8

Its all opinion, but i just thought it was a solid story with great gameplay and superb graphics on top. The thing that got me most though was that I love Tomb raider and after i played Uncharted, I just sat in my chair thinking...... wow this is even better.

Graphics are amazing. Although it takes forever to kill someone it's still fun. Wondering through jungle is cool. Is it over-hyped? Maybe, because back in times ps3 had only Ratchet and Clank, that's why this game looked like a god in gamer's eyes.

Stopped reading after compared to Halo 3, You compared the 2 in my mind dont care what you say:P

Uncharted is a great 'package'. It has everything: great graphics, great sound, great voice acting, great cutscenes, great gameplay and probably a good story. That's why it's so great

Ps3 gamers just over hype it to make it seem better than games 360 has.:P

True that. Some people just over hype every god damn game. WE GET IT! IT'S EXCLUSIVE!

That being said, I am a huge Uncharted fanboy. It's one of the best games this gen imo and the best game on PS3 right now. It's got the best voice acting of any game and I liked everything about Uncharted 1 except for the fact that you go through the same enviroments over and over again (which made the ending level so much better). At least with Uncharted 2 you will be all over the place from rooftops to mountains. Oh and you know, multiplayer.
