NETGEAR DG834 and DG834G (wireless) are the best routers ever made

no they aint,
i use a 2wire BT2700HGV router, heard of them?
i personally own the Netgear DG834-GT model, and even when i tweak it, i get 1mb less in broadband speed compared to the 2wire, also the 2wire holds connection ALL THE TIME.
the 2wire has held the connection for 'weeks', even though every evening my line goes to 1DB, it still holds and keeps the same speed. The netgear (its the GT model aswell) will drop connection below 4DB, and like i said... it gives a slower speed (although it shows a higher sync)
the 2wire, is locked to BT Buisiness broadband, but can be unlocked by a simple firmware (please read more into this if deciding to use this router)
i personally own one, and my unlocked one is fantastic...it beats them all, also has the buisiness firewall and can be tweaked to 400mhz wireless range by a simple setting (100mhz is the legal limit here in the UK), so if you have trouble getting excellent signal, then there is surely a problem.

the above quote was for ADSL.
if you are a cable modem user, id always suggest a linksys. :)
I use what is probably the most common router here in the states, the Linksys WRT54G. Works great for me, has lots of features and is cheap. It is running connections for 2 pc's, a wireless laptop, a PS3, and my Wii. Never an issue.
All this on a 15meg downstream connection on cable.
Hi,
I have recently bought a Netgear DG834GB wireless modem/router to connect my PS3 to a wireless network at home.
My partner and I have both tried to connect the PS3 to the network with/out WEP/WPA-SPK/WPA2-SPK keys, entering in information manually and using 'eas'y option but it will not connect for some reason. The router is all ready to go in terms of it is transmitting a signal, but the PS3 just seems to ignore it.
Can't remember off hand what the error code is but the main jist of the message is 'cannot connect to the wireless access point' - will post a reply with the exact message when I get home.
The firmware on both the PS3 and the router is up to date. The PS3 connects to the internet with no problem whatsoever through ethernet.
Any ideas?

My set-up is similar execpt for the router,I have the D-Link Wireless G. I have 3 laptops, my Ps3 and a 360 all on the same network...everything is fast and works great.
Apologies,
I have a Netgear DG834G router and get the error message 8013013E "A connection to the access point could not be established. Check the security settings for the wireless LAN"
You must have a hell of a long power cord on your PS3 then?-LOLmy router gives a connection over 1km away :)
gotta love these buisiness tweaked-power routers.
