Look Im probably the odd man out on this one when it comes to my opinion on the AC games. I know that and I honestly cant understand why everyone regards AC 2 as the best of everything in the series. I dont like how Ubisoft launches a new AC game every year trust me it pisses me off just as much as Activision releasing a new COD every year but atleast with Ubisoft they make quality yearly titles.

I love AC and have been playing since the first one came out. I will admit I have Brotherhood and Revelations but never played them yet. The first is by far the worst in the series but was a decent game for its time. Now after all the later releases for me it is almost unplayable.

Assassins Creed: Black Flag is probably my favorite closely followed by AC3. AC3 got a lot of bad feedback and I dont understand why. It was the most refreshing and interesting one out of the previous entries. Even the "Long Tutorial" had me hooked. I thought it was the best up untill Black Flag.

AC2 is my least favorite. I couldnt stand Ezio and the story was whatever. Unity is a way better game in my opinion and it even tries to capture the AC2 feel that everyone praises so much and its still being craped on. A lot of games coming out have been crapped on for stupid reasons especially by IGN and Gamespot. I have been reading these reviews lately and non of these scores are making any sense or matching their opinions. These sites are getting waaaay too nitpicky. Not even focusing on the major concerns and only attacking the minor annoyances. Honestly its discusting how stuck up these sites are getting. I can value someones opinion no problem but not when the opinion is unjustified or nonsensical.

@avariceny:

Yup that's why AC: U runs at like 20fps, and AC2 is the best.

@avariceny: I think the whole AC franchise is a bore fest even 2 which was just a bit better than one never played 3 but Black Flag peaked my interest with it's theme and settings and felt a bit more what I'd want, but even then once i worked out that killing enemies was just a chore which was you block, you counter, you kill, the harder enemies was just the same twice over and that was it, it got so boring so fast, once i saw Unity was back doing the bore fest that is a City again, I thought they have taken a step back from BlackFlag, but it isn't that what is being hated on it's the fact the game is poorly made, dipping frame rates to the teens is a huge fail for consoles which should be hitting 30fps rock solid or aiming for higher, really these consoles should be able to hit 60fps 1080p as standard.

it baffles me why there isn't more hate around for things like this, should we just sit back and just accept games have bad frame rates and bugs when were meant to be moving upwards and not side ways with these new consoles.

The pop ins in unity are a let down for me. Other then that it's a solid game. Cutscenes look amazing and Aron (main protagonist) is a really likeable character. Combat also feels fresh and tight.

Well I don't like any of the ACs because of bland gameplay. Usually a cool world to explore is enough to keep me going..... They're just not good; my opinion, of course.

A subpar game series that keeps repeating itself...how could that possibly get old and boring as shit?

I agree the frame rate drops especially in the streets and the pop ins are ridiculous. This is something you shouldnt be seeing on new consoles. I heard Ubisoft is coming out with a patch to fix a lot of those problems though but your right its unexceptable. These developers need to start releasing polished games instead of unfinished ones with the attitude of oh we can just fix it later. I just think if the issues can be addressed why not give something a chance instead of feeding into all the negative crap.

Luckily I'm not having the tech issues people are having.. I'm playing on PC and I'm getting ~45-60fps in gameplay and ~25fps in cutscenes... Kind of annoying, but I can tolerate cutscenes at 24fps+.

AC3 was so god damn boring because the first like 4 hours are all tutorial...

AC:U seems relatively fine though, it is basically a bigger better AC2 with a less cool protagonist (so far).

I enjoyed Assassin's Creed 3. But 2 is the best installment. Black Flag is good. The original game was great for it's time. I have yet to play Unity. While this is overall a great game series. Ubisoft would be wise to eventually rest the AC series. just for 2 years or 3. But Ubisoft seems intent on driving AC series into extinction. A yearly release milking Assassin's Creed to death. Ubisoft needs to make money. But I don't want them to kill AC just because Call of Duty and Madden do it.

I think that 3 gets hate because the amount of hype it recieved many were excited because it was a new setting and a new protagonist but most people including me found that main lead annoying and unlikeable and the game had a long tutorial that lasted ages by the time it was done there only about 2 or 3 hours left worth of story left. It's not a bad game it's just very dissapointing.

Number 2 in my eyes had alot of vareity in missions unlike the first game and Ezio was my favourite protagonist of the generation yes even ahead of the likes of Drake and Joel. It just felt like they hit the sweetspot.

Black Flag I felt was a step back in the right direction a well crafted game that I ploughed well over 40 hours in before I beat it and even then I came back to the game to get more collectibles. Also Edward Kenway was a likeable character too.

Now I shall be picking up Unity today and trying it out and see what my opinions are. I can't really say much at the moment

I got it for PC but haven't played it yet. At least I won't be forced with all the low frame rates I keep hearing about on the console version. I typically just enjoy the sneaking, attacking and eavesdropping stuff and Unity looks pretty well detailed so exploration will be a plus for me on this one. Games like this I enjoy just walking around looking at everything.

Exactly, I mean it's all good and well patching a game great, but I mean if your playing it now, why would you even go through it again, most people play games once and leave it alone, by the time the patch comes out most of them will be onto a new game and the rest probably wont be interested in it by the time it gets sorted, some of the bugs are just crazy, they might not be major but there deffaintly stuff a play tester would of picked up on, unless they were playing a different version, just like all there trailers and gameplay footage before hand.

The first AC game was ok, it was very samey until Black Flag which was different and a good step, now unity is back to samey with added bonus of bugs and performance issues

What do you mean the 1st in the Series ?

Assassin's Creed 1 was freaking Awesome.... And I agree with you, I don't get why Assassin's Creed 2 is regarded as the best either.... I didn't like what they did to the combat and worse yet they added a bunch of useless weapons.

Christ, could Assassin's Creed and its fans get any dumber? The game has a 76 on Metacritic, and that's a good score - not mediocre by any means. Many reviewers have experienced numerous game-breaking bugs, and usually games that contain that many bugs get scored much lower than what AC:U has been receiving. If anything, the critics have been very generous towards a game that has so many problems. Furthermore: the game is more or less exact same game that has been re-released for the last 7 years. How many times can reviewers repeat an identical gameplay experience before they realize "Oh...this is getting kind of old"? I can only do it once or twice, personally. Reviewers being forced to relive the same gameplay experiences over and over are actually rather generous for a game that might as well not have been made at all.

Yet AC fans are all like "Omg game isn't 9/10+? what garbage! Ubisoft ruined my favorite series!". You're the ones who keep buying the crap.
