whats the deal with the main character in bioshock 2?

right i played bioshock 1 and loved it. ive been reading up a lot about the new game but its not making any sense to me. how can the character you play as in bioshock 2 be the first ever big daddy?

bioshock 2 takes place AFTER bioshock 1. if you get to play as the first ever big daddy then what were those things protecting the little sisters in the first game?

From what I understand your like a prototype Big Daddy from when the city was just getting started. Then, at some point they decommistioned him/you and Dr. T brings you back to do some task.

Exactly, that is how you still have some self will unlike other big daddys and how you can yield plasmids and such. The ones you killed in number one were the finished products that were actually put out to do the job.

I am a bit confused on the plot and characters at the moment. I don't think Bioshock 2 will have the same enjoyable atmosphere as the first one. But hopefully I am wrong on both accounts.

If you read and watch the interviews and all that. I think they won't have a big "Would you kindly?" moment, but as far as gameplay they seem to be doing things that I would enjoy. Such as being able to go outside into the water for example.
