The only other major difference is that it all backwards compatibility will done using software emulation versus the 60gig's hardware integration.

Thanks. Are there any "minor" differences?

Correct. and there are no other differences. Outside the 80GB currently coming with Motorstorm bundled in.

Might as well go for the 60GB IMO. cheaper, and you can always buy an 80 gig HDD for like $70 or something if you really wanted to.

Yea, the 60GB does sound like the better buy. I have 50+ PS1 games, and 25+ PS2 games that my kids still like to play (and me from time to time).

The minor difference: 20GB in HDD space. For $100 more. 60GB for me.

what they dont tell you is that the emulation software takes up an estimated 15 to 20 GB of space so you're still getting a 60gb PS3 for $600

The 60 gig version is the best version because of the EE chip set. As for HDD space you can add a much larger HDD at any time for a resonable price (as of now you can get a 200 gig HDD for just a little more than the price differance) and Sony has the instructions in the owners manual on how to do this.

OK, besides the HD difference, the 80GB doesnt have the emotion chip (60GB does have the chip), so basically all backward compatibility is done through software emulation. Also the 80GB comes with Motorstorm.

Imo, the 60gb is the way to go. It's less money (for now), has the EE chip, and frankly, I'm not even close to filling up all 60gb on the hdd.

20 Gigs and MotorStorm. :) No more emotion Engine chip.

My 2 cents.
