For me it would be Final Fantasy XII with 150 hours and I'm not even at %100 completion. I haven't played it for about a month or two, but I might go back to it again to collect everything. LuckyLy
Hmmmm....when I first got 7 back when it launched it took forever because:
1. I wanted to get everything.
2. SEPHIROTH..DEN DEN DEN DEN DEN DEN NE!
I hit 54 hours with FFX and I thought that was a HUGE amount of time when I finished it. That's the longest for an FF game. I hit 110 or so with Oblivion.
I am trying to procure a copy of FFVII for playing. I have a hunch I might break that 54 hours with it. (Gotta prep for FFVII:CC)
I seem to recall my in game timer being froze at 99:99 forever in 7. Sephiroth was a cakewalk compared to the Emerald Weapon.SufferingManDitto.
I think I've spent the most time playing 7 out of all of the others I've tried my hand at. I've played it through completely numerous times over the years.

FF12, got everything expect that Zodiac spear. Did you beat Yazmat? man that took me a while, but awesome game. 178 Hours
120 or so hours in FFX (maybe more, can't remember). captured all monsters, unlocked and killed all arena monsters, got all special weapons and pretty much got nearly every stat to 255.Pearl_of_Egypt
I wish you would capture me Pearl.

only if you don't mind being chained down into a dark basement, being fed scraps every three days while every second day having to be dressed up in a clown costume dancing the can can for my entertainment.

And a sense of humor too. Pearl you already have captured my heart.i just started going through FF8(my fav by far) again ive played the game over and over since i bought it for the ps1river_rat3117
same here. FF VIII counting all my playthroughs must have around 300 hours of playtime. Close to it will come FF VII then XII.

Haha same here. The only way for me to get Zodiac Spear now is to go through the cave part and keep on repeating until the chest appear with Zodiac Spear inside. As for Yiazmat I got him to a few hundred thousand HP left and before I fought him again I saved, but then he killed me so I loaded the game and his health regenerated back to a few millions so I got tired and didn't bother killing him again.
For one playthrough, FFXII requires by far the most amount of time to complete everything. Getting lvl99 and beating Ruby/Emerald and maxing all materia (of course you could max them all 500 times and the game would take a limitless amount of time, but after ruby/emerald are down, there is no reason to keep advancing) takes about 110-120 hours. FFX takes about 100 hours to be strong enough to beat all the created monsters. FFXI I guess could be infinite, but I don't count it, because no matter how much time you spend you can't complete it, and it also sucks. FFXII takes about 160+ hours for all the marks and everything. FF IV, VI, VIII and IX are all fairly short in comparison because there is zero reason to max level, unless you just want to make the game stupidly easy.
Now, if you are considering the total amount of time spent from multiple playthroughs, I would probably have to say FFVI takes that prize. The game only takes about 40 hours, but I've beat it about 7-8 times. That is, unless you include FF Tactics in the list, then it would probably be pretty close to VI. It takes around 40-50 hours to go straight through, but to get lvl99 and clear the deep dungeon it's probably close to 100 hours. Although, I've only done that once (getting to 99, deep dungeon is really all that hard).
The main problem with maxing out characters in all these games is that the last boss becomes a joke. Sephiroth dies in one Omnislash, Ultimecia dies in one Lion Heart (I would imagine, never bothered to max out in FFVIII), etc. There have been games where the monsters level up with you, and that is definitely something I have always preferred and would like to see it in a FF game at least once. Imagine a lvl99 Sephiroth instead of him being like he is lvl49.

Yiazmat is not that hard, I would say Omega Mark II is way harder, Im lvl 83, 84, 85 and she took my entire party in less than 1 minute having Maximillian as armor and Zodiac Spear as weapon along with Ragnarok.

Lol I killed Omega Mark II like it was nothing, but the three characters that I used were lvl 99 and had the best equipments so that may have something to do with it haha. Yiazmat isn't hard it's just time consuming. I'll kill him sooner or later.
