Whats the main reason you bought your ps3?

The main reason I bought mine was as a Blu-Ray player, but I quickly discovered games that I couldn't live without. Assassin's Creed FTW.

Mainly for the blu-ray right now. There's not too many exclusives on it. Cross-platform games I usually get the 360 version. But that should change as soon as developers start figuring out the system more, because the 360 is a piece of crap. I like my 360, but being on my 4th system for something i paid $500 for is unacceptable.

I think I bought mine to play Videogames, oh and Blu Ray porn, duh.

On the real tip, LBP sold Sony to me. It's officially my first Sony console.

Many:

- need a new gaming machine to replace my aging PC
- need a new dvd player cause my current standalone dvd player won't play half the movies I rent from blockbuster.
- free online gaming
- never owned ps1 or ps2 so it is like getting 3 consoles in 1.
- Warhawk, MGS series, LBP
- Singstar as a karaoke for wife.

I'm counting on a surge of better games - in the future.

Right now, I am waiting on FFXIII, FF vs. XIII, and White Knight Story, in particular.

For me, there were several reasons why it made sense.

1. I had bought a 1080p DLP television and needed a better system. I had ps2 and one before it so why not have something that could play all three types of games. It was my TV purchase more than anything that had me make te move.

2. Oh, by the way the blu-ray player was a bonus.

3. MLB The Show, Assassins Creed, Oblivion.

4. The most underated feature, bulit in wifi adapter.

5. FREE Online access.

6. The place I bought in from gave me no interest for 18 months on it. I also bought the remote, two controllers and three games with it.

i originally had a 360....then sold it for a ps3.....then sold the ps3 when halo 3 came out.....i'm starting to regret it...but i think i'm just gonna save up and get one again...i miss it.....and i'm scared my 360 will get the rrod again.....i'm on my third one now

I would have put that as my reason, but it would seem the 360 has more JRPGs than the PS3 so far, lol. (Excluding in Japan)

It seems as if that plant gives you the ability to make good investments and spend money on high quality products ;). This must be shared with the world :D.

X360 crapped out (RRoD), M$ rips its customers off on the new hard drive ($180 for a 120GB hard drive - Come On, M$, how can you charge $180 for something that only cost $55)

You can change the PS3 hard drive with a normal one and not some over priced proprietary piece of crap. Thank you, Sony!

And lastly, Better Games, Games, Games! And of course, Blu-Ray.

I actually bought my PS3 because i really wanted to have some friends online and play with them on resistance, or warhawk or something, but none of my friends really have PS3's, and the few friends i have on PSN i rarely ever play with. So I guess i'll just use this a selfish way to see if people would like to help me start a union where we could all like have online tournaments in some games we have and just general discussion.

Same but the graphics are the same between the 360 and ps3

Umm for me the main reason was MGS4 and I still play my ps2 games, right now I'am trying to find MGS1 so I can play it over I have just about beat every mgs game.I already had a 360 well.. three of them the last one I just trade it in for store credit towards my 60gb ps3 because I think I was getting rip off by MS,so right now I'am playing warhwak and mgs2 over so I'am very happy with my choice,oh yeah by the way FINAL FANTASY VERSUS XIII IS ALL SO THE REASON TO.8)
