My PS2 finally crapped out after five years, so it was time for a new system. That, plus the free online, and Blu-Ray.
(Also, after reading all the horrors of XBOX and the RROD, I selected PS3)

Same here. My PS2 died and just seemed like it was time to move on. Also, the BluRay capabilities helped grease the wheels.
I didn't like the PS2 I was more of a xbox and gamecube person. I bought a wii and sold it a week later because I can't stand the wiimote. I then bought a 360 and sold that a week later because of the RROD issue. I then got a PS3 and couldn't be happier.
I liked the PS2's lineup but didn't care for the grafix I used to think these games would be great on xbox. When I saw the power of the PS3 I thought if sony can produce the line up they did with the PS2 on the PS3 I'm sold.
I've always been a Nintendo person but decided to jump ship after the cube.
I had every PS before it, free online, blu-ray, low failure rate and like the library.jtdawg23
Same for me. Free online was a biggie.
