mine bricked when trying to upgrade to 2.6 along time ago but luckily the psp was under warranteetrick6952
suprisingly nothing major has ever happened to mine yet, i've dropped it a few times but onto the carpet in my house, but i've still got a few minor scratches. I'm using a psp protection case which has been working pretty well in keeping it safe
Today, I was walking down the hall at the end of school, and my friend pushed me as a joke and I dropped it, I haven't dropped it in ages, the UMD door just got a little busted, but everything still works.
I dropped mine, and it no longer reads memory sticks =( SOny is gonna charge me $88 dollars to get it fixed, and its still under warranty. Screw that!:evil:
My PSP w/1gig mem stick and 8 PSP games were stolen for drug money by somebody my mom knew........Id wager to think thats the worst thing something could happen to your most prized handheld. Needless to say I dont see this person near my house, or anywhere in my sight anymore.

i got mine stolen but i got it back turns out i bought another one off ebay and it was mine my intials were engraved in it so i knew

Wow thats really.....wel I don't even know it just sucks and rocks at the same time, The worst thing I did to mine was drop it on my friends hardwood floor twice in a row, and let my other friend borrow it and he busted a cluster of pixels in the corner
Dropped it 3 times, and it cracked on the inside of the screen, so I could only see 1/4 of the real screen, But they accepted my warrenty, instead of making me pay 60 bucks to send it to SCEA.
A damn nurse kocked my first one off my hospital bed and manage to break the thin-assed tab that goes from the on/off switch inside to the slider on the outside. Perfectly good otherwise. I haven't checked into repair costs, but I don't expect a good price to repair a 2mm piece of plactic. *sigh*

You guys have had bad luck or need to buy a good hardy case to keep your psp in. As for me, I have always kept my psp in my logitech playgear case. Having that said I have dropped my psp from about 4 feet onto concret with the case on and kept on playing. I have kept my psp with case in my pocket while at my movie theater job and bumped, knocked, slammed it into the chairs, counters, popcorn machine and not a dead pixel or crack anywhere.Â
I advice you guys to buy a nice hard case made of some plastic and not a piece of fabric. Best 20dollars Ive spent on my psp so far.Â
