What's up with all the freaking SD resolution movies at PSN's movie store?

Isn't the whole point of having a freaking PS3 to get with the HDTV times? Blu-Ray included..... hello?

Why does it feel like over 90% of the movies offered each week are only in SD? What's the point of having a movie store if you're not going to give me HD? If they're sticking with SD, frankly, I'd rather go with my Xbox 360 that will have Netflix and a lot more stuff to choose from.

C'mon Sony, give me better HDTV rentals.

There's nothing wrong with the SD offering, they all look great to me, better than upscaled DVD.

PS3 already has netflix. Just use your browser. Its actually cheaper. Also, if you think the 360 has a better selection, your kidding yourself. the xbox movies at the moment are a joke.

Just like anything else, It will take some time to get the HD offering where we would like it, but remember that not everyone has HDTV just yet.

Movies is not why I purchased the PS3 or 360 for that matter, so it's a welcome option in my opinion that I don't have any complaints about. I usually purchase my favorite movies on BD when available.

Keep in mind the size of the HD files versus SD.

HD would fill up a 'stock' ps3's HDD in no time.

You can't really fault Sony on this. This depends on publisher being willing to convert and re-master their source to HD version, which is a rather time-consuming process and majority of people still only download SD versions as they are much smaller and a bit easier on the wallet, while quailty is just about the same. You are welcome to pick 360 for movies if u want to, but really, blaming PS3 for lack of HD movie content is a bit silly imo.. especially when BR's pretty much in all the stores now.

Having a PS3 doesn't necessarily mean you can view HD movies...throw in an HDTV, and then you got something. The SD movies are just fine...if you want to watch all of you rmovies in HD buy the movie on bluray...

I've already received a letter from my ISP about my downloads. 2 HD rentals was 14GB.

when the price is 1.00$ for any movie and everibody in the world has a stable 1Gig connexion, maybe I'll think about downloading a HD movie ... oh, and yes, they'll need to release some HDDs that don't break too

The store just launched not to long ago.You have to give them some time to gather content. You cant expect all the content to be in hd after just a few months. You also have to remember that hd is still not the standard yet.
