Logan's Shadow PSN price - 29.99

Logan's Shadow Amazon.ca price - 19.99

Resistance Retribution PSN price - 39.99

Resistance Retribution Amazon.ca price - 19.99

What gives, I want to support the PSN, but I don't want to pay out the rear to do so. If a 3rd party seller is selling a hard copy of a product for cheap, how does the 1st party seller justify selling it more expensively. We're not talking about like a 5 dollar difference here or there, we're talking in excess of 20 bucks - why the disparity between prices?

well for something like the games you mentioned that sony themselves publish, i have no idea why they wouldnt make the pricing comparable. with titles they do not own themselves its a lil different. they dont have total control over the price. they have some control but they have to pay the publisher a fee. maybe they figure you are stupid and you will not shop around. or maybe they just dont care about you? maybe they think you would think that a downloaded copy is better and worth the price they ask.

Whoever was the lead on the PSP Go should be fired, they made absolutely terrible decisions. There is no incentive for the PSP Go and the owners that shelled out the ridiculous price (50 less than PS3 I think), they are further getting screwed by having to pay more for games - it makes no logical sense. On the official PSP forums, I was told they keep the costs up of games not to anger retailers. I also heard the PSP Go is also expensive to appease retailers where they will make no money on the games sold. If thats true, its pretty BS to consumers.

There are ways to copy UMDs that you purchase to a memory stick using a PSP-1000-3000. This would let you purchase a game and copy it over to your PSP Go for play, but I think playing it on the Go would require custom firmware. It wouldn't be illegal tough since you bought the game.

Last I saw, Logan's Shadow was $22.99, not $29.99. US PSN, right? Anyway, the Resistance pricing difference is complete bull, but the few extra bucks for Logan's Shadow may not be so offensive. Remember, you can put the game on up to 5 PSPs....so if you have a friend and want to play multiplayer (let's say some game with co-op), one PSN game will suit both of you. This is especially good for families that have mulitple people who play. Plus, if a PSP2 has backwards compatibility, I really, REALLY doubt they're going to include a UMD drive. So if it is, your PSN versions will be playable on the next system while the UMDs are tied solely to the PSP. I do agree that Sony and some other developers are botching it, though.

While it's slightly off-topic, it bears mentioning that you can get a 20$ PSN card at Target for 17$ this week. Maybe that'll help out with those prices a bit?

Yeah, the pricing doesn't make much sense, does it.

Amazon:

Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 (umd) -- $24.13

Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 (DD) -- $29.99

well the amazon price for Resistance is a SALE price. the psn doesnt really do sales. the psn price = the msrp you'll see at stores like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc. Amazon you gotta wait a few days for the item to come in the mail. Downloading off psn is less than an hour (depending speed and size etc).

edit:

the worst example of games where the psn price is way overboard is Gangs of London. I bought it from amazon for like $10. PSN wants $22 or something. That game isnt really that great either. To pay over $20 would be a total ripoff!

I just got a go last week. I thought there was some cheap stuff on there. I got LocoRoco 2, Patapon 2, and KZ L for less than $10 which is less than Amazon price, as well as Jeane D'Arc for Amazon price (~$23). MGS PO was $15; MGS PO isn't even on Amazon or Best Buy. I overpaid about $5 for GOW and Pursuit Force Extreme Justice. Can't really complain since I split them all with my brother who lives about 600 miles away.

this is the main reason that i sold my GO. You can't take advantages of the deals that Toys R Us, Gamestop, and Amazon have if you have a GO. It was so frustrating having the go and seeing the high prices on PSN when other stores had the UMDs on sale.
