i dont know about you guys and gals but i never bought a system cause it had better graphics than another one--i always buy a system because it has the games i could only get on that specific console--just because the PS3 lost a few exclusives now its a graphics war against the 360--in the end it all comes down to the games--and if you wanna sit there and pick apart every graphical error a game has i think youre missing the point of playing games in the first place--just play the damn things and have fun
i hate it too graphics do not make the game, i mean lets face it socom didnt have the greatest graphics but the gameplay was awesome. but the blend of both is what makes it amazing and a good story. i get the game if its fun and appeals to me and looks atleast decent
Well no offense but you gotta face the facts. Lots of people want to buy a game because of its graphics not because of the gameplay. Which is a shame because gameplay is a big factor if not the most important one in a game.
see it just seems to me people are forgetting about consoles like the PS2 whos graphics were inferior to the others and outsold them anyway--and then theres the wii of coarse
Well now its because sony stated the ps3 can make good graphcis outta there games, however with the developers not fully utilizing the ps3 to produce great graphics its getting bash at. Also lets face it, the graphics battle is between x 360 and ps3. I gotta admit the x360 graphics are looking slightly better than the ps3 but thats more than enough for people to go all out on the ps3 because of the graphics that are in there current released games.
i think becuase people got sucked into the "Next Gen" which actually just made games HD and thats only really about the display resolution not really how good the graphics are but since itmakes it better to view i am guessing thats where it starts. there is so many games from previous consoles that didnt look the greatest buthad awesome gameplay, i think its funny how people are justifying 60$ on a game by how it looks now and not by how it plays at leasat most if i can get the best ofboth than great, but it wont end. The last that adds is due to companie spending 20mil on games too
I remember the genesis and snes debates were very similar. The snes had the more colorful gfx but had issues with slowdown. The genesis didnt lok as colorful but was able to have better gameplay due to speed of system was faster. In the end I purchased the game for the system that I felt was the better of the two. Like mortal kombat for genesis and sf2 snes.
Well since I did pay 500$ for a ps3, I'd like to have graphics at least exactly the same or better than xbox 360 games. Hasn't happened yet. Oblivion had some upgrades, but it also had some things messed around too much too like the brightness being too high and worse jaggies compared to the 360 version. I'll give it till metal gear solid 4 comes out to see if the system was really worth the money.
I also look for the gameplay but lets face it graphics are all part of the experience, and in some cases graphics and make or break the experience. Take any fps game for example they aren't fun unless they look good same with action games. Rpg games are basically the only ones that the graphics dont matter in. Sound is also very important but it is often overlooked.

I agree with both of you but on of the main things that sony is trying to bank on is the graphics so its pretty hard to argue with what they are aiming for and what we want as gamers.

Its because sony is using graphics as a selling point and if graphics didnt matter why did they show all these fake traillers than.
Yeah i guess you got a point there---oh and this isn't meant to be a system wars kind of thing to anyone who thinks it is--im making a general arguement that gameplay is more important than graphics and it just so happens the PS3 is getting the bulk of the graphics talk lately so i posted it here
Well if u didnt want a major improvment in graphics one would have not bought a 360 or PS3...they would have sticked with there PS2 and Xboxs...sure gameplay desides wheather or not the game is fun but if i wanted to play games just for the gamplay i would be playing all the other consoles before this generation. PS3 and 360 where created so that the graphics are more realistic...such as u can see the sweat on a guys face after taking a blow to the head when fighting in a boxing match...Thats why there is such a comparision between the graphics of the PS3 and 360.
