What's with my memory stic?

So it started like this i pluged psp to pc normaly then i downloaded some pictures for my psp when i unplugged the psp the memory stic icon dissapared for all bigger icons like this : when you go to pictures it shows that no memory stic is inserted.I gave that stic to my friend but it not works either.And its not over when i turn on my psp it shows that i must format memory stic ! the files are unreadible! When i start to format it it says that no memory stic is inserted WTF???!!!!

This has happened to me before - it turned out that the memory stick was defective. Do you have a Sony or third-party memory stick? Check the warranty status on it.

Things to try: look at the back of the memory stick...are the mentallic contacts free of gunk/debris/dust? If not, gently blow the dust/debris off. If there is gunk or some other liquid, call the memory stick manufacturer and ask for advice.

Try checking the disk for errors - when you connect the PSP to your comptuer, access MY COMPUTER, then right-click on the drive assigned to your PSP and select PROPERTIES. The "Check for errors" button should be in there somewhere (sorry...on Windows Vista PC right now).
