I thought with next-gen systems the jaggies would be the thing of the past (anti-aliasing).  Some games have alot of them that I have seen like Madden, Need For Speed even the Ridge Racer 7 demo being 1080 has them.  I also catch a glimpse of them in Resistance.  Why is this? Is it because of my TV being so big?  Its a 60" Sony SXRD XBR1.  Anyone else notice these?  Also I'm connected with HDMI.

Most of those games only support up to 720p... If you put in as 1080i or 1080p, it will produce jaggies.

its not the games, it really just the resolutions, basically everything but 1080p will produce jaggies, but even though that res has some.

You're too rich, I got the solution donate your 60" HDTV to moi and i will magically get rid of all the Jaggies by here's the kicker...trading you my 32" 720p HDTV. Hows that I garantee you will not see anymore jaggies. Your TV's resolution is too high 1080p TVs can only show 1080p games, all lower resolution games will have Jaggies. Which means 90 percent of all PS3 games will have Jaggies. Even 1080i will have jaggies. You to match every pixel on your TV and only 1080p native game will do that. So how about the trade?

Dude, games will always have aliasing, it's a part of life. It simply takes too much processing power to eliminate them completely. After playing quite a few ps2 games on my 1080p display, you just get used to it. It doesn't make the game any less fun, and they still do look good.

Stop lying what the man needs is a nice 32" 720p TV to match the PS3 games native resolution and I'm just the man to help. Listen 1080p TVs will always show jaggies whenever displaying images lower than it's max resolution.

hmm.. so here is my question.. if you have a 1080p tv.. and your playing a game that max output os 720p you see jaggies..(acording to what has been said) but.. how can that be.. if the ps3 does not upconvert the signal to 1080p instead produces it at 720p... how would having your tv set at 1080p make a difference.. or is it the sheer size of the tv.. i have a 56 in dlp.. and i ocasionaly see jaggies.. but not as much..

Here's how science works. Any image that is smaller than the native resolution of a TV must be enlarged (upconverted, radazzled) whatever you wanna call it. Whenever you make a image larger than it actually is you get jaggies end of story. So 1080p requires a full 1080p signal in order to match every pixel on screen. Thus anything under 1080p will have jaggies, upconvert is just a fancy word for enlarging. When you enlarge a 720p image to fit a 1080p screen you get jaggies. Don't like jaggies buy a cheaper tv or play the game with black borders thus allowing it to remain at it's native resolution. This isn't brain surgery anyone who's ever played a PC game should know that games play at anything other than the displays native resolution will have jaggies.

Jaggies will be there until AA comes free, and that wont be for a while. Why do you think PCs still have them? Because it takes time and resources to do and on a console if you spend time doing that you get less detail which is worse than a few jaggies.
