Sony is going to have to pay for exclusives this time around, like microsoft is paying for exclusives and to take exclusivitey from Playstation. UTIII was one of those games. Sony's Jack Tretton said in an interview with gameinformer, "we have never paid for exclusivity, we are trusted by the devs to not have to do that"

That is as close as " Microsoft knows what they are doing and it is actually hurting us" you will get from sony.

First the pS3 needs to sell 4-5 million.......developers go with who has the install base, and the PS3 has some serious catching up to do.

Be patient!

In order to make an exclusive, a console needs to be succesfull relative to the competition!

At least you are getting the game!

Well I just dont understand 1 thing why do you care about the exclusivity just be happy game would be out enjoy it and therefore if it's on all platforms it can really show the difference between the console power.

Luckily Sony is smarter than you, they spent the money on expanding their 1'st party.

Why is it smarter?

- 1'st party titles always stay exclusive

- 1'st party titles generates more revenue (no one else to share the profit with)

- No disputes over the franchise rights

- Talent/developers found and hired for the project can bring their experience over to other projects
Experienced developers do not just come in from the street, which is the problem MS is currently facing because they have all the money they could possibly want but not the talent, where as Sony has spent 10 years on building up talented development teams.

- Money invested on computers, motion capture equipment and so on can be used for other 1'st party projects.

In short 1'st party titles gives more bang for the money and you are ensured that the team won't just jump ships and take everything they spent "your" money on over to the competition.

And I do think that you have spent too much time in SW, Bioware is not a big developer and the developers do not have big financial hits behind them (the two System Shock titles were financial flops).

In the past, sony never really had to pay for exclusive because there console was flat out the best and all game developers wanted to make their games for them. Sega was on the way out and nintendo is all about making there own games so the only options was the playstation brand or PC. Now that nintendo has changed their stance and wanting more third party support and Microsoft is being a thorn in there butts and really being a challenge to them, they are losing alot of there exclusives because there's more choices out there for the game studios. Plus the fact that microsoft is willing to pay whatever it needs too to get the titles and exclusives they can get. Maybe sony will realize soon that this isn't the 90's and there system isn't the only 1 out there anymore. If they don't, they are in big trouble.

Indeed, it's wery weird that console sales are so important to him, maybe he got stocks in Sony. Anyway, why do you not have your PSN ID in your signatures?

Interesting you do have a good point but third part support is also very important, without third party, PS3 wont have amazing exclusives like MGS4, DMC4, FF13. These 3 are my favourite games but I just want Sony to get a major American exclusive so the PS3 will appeal to everyone

put yourself in their shoes, if you going to make a game.  You will see that ok, so i have 10 million users here and only 1 million users there, which would i chose to put my product out.  I can do both but if the 1 million users want to my game only to them, they would have to pay me the amount that i would make with thsoe other 10 million users.  It's business man

NO! console sales aren't important to me , I just need a good long game(to really get more of the money i spend) with nice graphics I dont really care if its sony, microsoft or nintendo to me all have their own respective advantages and disadvantages but all deliever a good gaming experience that's all so I dont really believe in exclusivity. and yeah I ttend to change my PSN ID over the time

Dude dont worry, its going to be better for PS3. Here is why: Unreal Engine was made for PS3...and it doesnt even push sPS3 too its limits. Gears was being pushed to the 360's limits.

because the gaming industry... no matter how much you want it to be.... isn't a trading card game among millionaires. They do what they have to do to reach the widest market and in turn pull in a lot of money.
