I purchase all these games and play them for about 30 minutes and never go back....I realize these are great games and masterpieces at that, but I just dont play them....

I have Uncharted 2, CODMW2, Metal Gear, Killzone2, GTA4, and these are just a few that I should be playing but just have no interest....

Maybe its age, but even when I am bored as hell with nothing to do I still pass on gaming.....

Recently the most I have played is TV show king and awhile back the nazi zombie games got be hooked.......

I guess Im just into games now that are a quick pick me up and play, maybe no time for long stories.,....

Anyone else going through anything like this?

Wait, so you haven't completed any of those games? Maybe they're not you type of games then. If you don't find yourself having enough fun to continue, that must be the case. Try an RPG, those usually get me hooked.

Well, it's either...

A) You need to look at games you want to buy, don't base your purchases on reviews or other peoples opinions. Look into different genres as these are not for you.

or

B) You're simply not into gaming. Do something else with your time and money

You probably just need a break from gaming. give it a couple months then come back and enjoy all the awesomeness that you missed over the previous months.

TC, i'm in the same boat as you. I have tons of games I own but completed only a handful. It doesn't help that I have 8 games pre ordered so who knows when I'll complete them all. However, I finally beat Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and it took forever to complete.

I am the same way... I'm so bad at beating games, however I did beat Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 from that list.

I don't know how you couldn't beat Modern Warfare 2. It took me a few weeks because I wasn't into it, but I only played like 2 levels at a time.

I'm having a hard time completing games right now because of school during the day and then working at night. It makes for a bad combo when trying to finish games. I know eventually I'll complete them, but right now it isn't easy. I have Darksiders, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted 1, and Valkyria Chronicles just to name a few that I have that are not completed.

yeah I understand what'cha saying, I been in that situation at one point. I just felt that I needed something quick and not so complicated. God granted my wish with god of war series :) then little by little I was able to get back into gaming and yes I think it has a lot to do with aging. if all else fails just acknowledge that you need some other hobby, try tennis :)

Wow i feel exactly like you. I also have plenty of games but i've finished just few of them (last time U2). I find myself chatting with people on psn and surfing the internet. Maybe i became tired of gaming. I hope it gets better when i get Heavy Rain and God of War 3.

Me m I'm going through the same exact problem , I think about playing a game , then how long it will be and I give up and stick to pick up n' play games , let alone dragon age and demon's soul which are collecting dust more than any others.I realized that the only moments I can play these games are when I'm veery happy and have nothing to do.If I have the smallest problem I can't play them , like something prevents me form it , I dunno :?

No I go through ordeals like this all the time...its due to just what happens during the days that exhausts you...and therefore it makes you not want to put time in a game such as a u2 or anything like that because to get into games you need to sit and really get into it...I'm the same way atm but I love gaming and I loved games that I have I just can't sit down to play them a lot because I have no time anymore and when I do have the time id rather just be relaxing or doing something else with friends. Its different for a person who's used to just gaming all the time and has all the time in the world so I understand if you react to these statements differently because you're just suffering from your own ignorance...but anyone will tell you that going to college and having a job and completing other things around your house seriously the only time you have the time to play games you'd rather just chill with just yourself or party with friends giving the ps3 or any system for that matter dust from lack of play...that is of course you have no friends or the friends you do have are all gamers as well

Maybe you're sick of shooters? Might want to trye different like Hack & Slash, RPG, or RTS. I always keep my games library diverse with different style of games so I can switch around if I get bored with certain genre.

Sounds like stress could be the culprit. Sometimes we feel like we're so old but we're not old, we're just overburdened.

Im suffering from my own ignorance? What the hell are you on about? He said, and I quote, "these are just a few that I should be playing but just have no interest....". So my reply was to that - him saying he has no interest. No interest. If you have no interest in games, you're either not a gamer, or you need to look at different genres. So it was actually you being ignorant, not me.

I've been going through the same thing for awhile now. I agree with the other posters it's all about what's going on in your life. When I'm really stressed I have no desire to play games. In a weird sort of way I think the problem is that games have gotten deeper and more immersive. (Which should be a good thing). There are very few games anymore that you can just pop in and play for 20 minutes while waiting for a few friends to come by. I've been struggling to get through AC2 for this very reason. There is so much to do that it doesn't feel like I'm getting anywhere in the game that I just start thinking about other things I can be doing instead.

I'd reallly suggest taking some time off from gaming and wait till you hear about a game you really want to try and play through it. Uncharted 2 did it for me. I ended up beating it in a week which is unheard of from me. I used to try and play all the top games that were released but it just started to feel like a chore to me. Back in High school it was great I could spend all day saturday playing and beating games and still have a life. Whereas now I'm so busy with work and daily chores my time is limited.

I know I was just rambling but to wrap it all up. Take time off of gaming and only come back when you read about a game you really want/get excited to play.

Play in short gaming sessions, don't try to force yourself to progress to a certain point every time you play. Switch the games up dont focus on one game at a time.

I bought MW2 a week or two ago, and I still haven't even played the single player if that makes you feel any better? lol

I find myself having a hard time starting/finishing games over the last year or two. I work full time, goto school full time, have a daughter every other weekend, a full time girl friend, and I go out a lot. It's just hard to find time to game for me. I'm just starting to get back into it though, I'm going to knock off hitting the bars so much.

I'm the same way now. I've been gaming since NES came out and over the last 2 years I don't play as much. I want to, I buy new games that are the genre that I like. Most of the time I just sit and watch T.V or play my Guitar. And I always seem to want to play a game the most when I can't, if I'm at work or something.

Did you read my whole statement or stop at that because you got all edgy and that's all you could think about....obviously you didn't listen to what ki was trying to say...I wasn't even specifically even speaking about you I was just using what you said and then actually just used myself as an examplee as to why that's wrong..anyway I didn't mean it as an insult to you at all so relax...its true. What I said about it though that if people have nothing else to do whens someone says that they can't its all of a sudden they aren't into it anymore or something like that because they just don't undestand I'm not pointing out anyone in particular of having nothing but gaming to do with their money and time I'm just saying is all...and plus that's not even the point of my main post anyyway...my post was to just show he's not the only one who has those times. Becaause I'm going through the same thing and it happens to me alot ...yet i its just different games. All I can say to tc is pick a specific game and play only that game until you beat it don't buy any other game...and after yojure done with one move on to the next...that's what I do in times like these

Lots of good points, an cleanNjerk as well.. I probably spend more time reading about whats coming out and reading posts when i probably should be gaming....Right now Im having fun with tv quiz show......Im at a point where I want something fast, interesting, exciting, and will last 20min then im done? I also think is about how games are made today........games back when,,,,were easy to get into, made u use your imagination, and seemed easy but was challenging.....like mega man 1,,Ice mans board....those appearing and disappearing blocks as well as those helicopter guys you have to jump to each 1, seemed straight forward, kinda easy, but was challenging.... ..... And is why Nazi zombies was so great...just hold your own in this dilapidated building, but really tested your skills and u could always improve

I'll add this too. Whoever is saying take a break, they're right! No matter how old you are there will always be time to play games. I'm 30 and work and have a house, so that takes time which is probably why I choose T.V over games now. T.V is mindless and I can relax. I haven't played much over the last month and rented CoD MW2 last week. Not only did I complete the SP campaign, I went back and did it on veteran on Friday and Saturday. I felt the drive to play a gameagain because I had been "meh" for almost a month. Now I feel, "meh" again. I don't want to play games right now. But, I had one hell of a fun time with MW2 last week. And got quite a few trophies plus went from Rank 5 to 6 on PSN so I'm pretty satisfied now.

So chill, you've got tons of time to play in life. You will love it again. You don't have to play everyday or every month to still enjoy a game :)

You probably have better things to do brah, Theres nothing wrong with you. I wish I had a life that didn't consist of playing video games most of the day.

I was like that for a while, I guess it because your getting older and you have less time to play video games. Take a good 6 months off it will do you some good.

Gaming has nothing to do with aging,dinjo_jo

People tend to mistaken that. The mainstream public still regard it as "a kid's toy". "I stopped playing because I got older". What an insult...

Maybe you should buy games that you are generally interested in instead of what everyone says is good, because I think MGS 4 sucks but it got 10. and also everyone says that in 2010 there is like 20 games coming out that will get 9 / 10 but I only need 2 games this year to survive lol.

Wow, that's unfortunate. You know, I have mixed opinions on those games. I found MGS4 almost unbearable, and I wasn't particularly entertained by GTA4, so I didn't get more than 10 hours out of those two combined. And they are the highest reviewed games of this generation. On the other hand, I've put in probably 50+ hours into Modern Warfare 2 (most of it in Spec Ops mode with friends), I loved Uncharted 2 and think it was the best game of this generation, and I enjoyed Killzone 2 (though I didn't do more than 1 playthrough of the very short campaign, so I got maybe six or seven hours out of it).

As others have said, buy games based on what you like not what people tell you to get. There's nothing quite like getting absorbed in a story you were interesting in to begin with.

Well i am 28, i work and have a flat, so? I don't think any of what you said has any actual relevance with what the guy asked, but since there is freedom of speech, fine. He is probably not happy - at the moment - with games that require him to remember what happened before, what the rules are - controls etc - so picking up an RPG like someone else suggested would be the final blow... Everyone goes through phases when they want quick pick it up games - fighting or racing work best for me - the same way some people get into short stories for a while then go back to novels.
