What's wrong with MW2???

I just started playing MW2 on multiplayer yesterday, and I really suck. Today I reached level 6, I joined a free-for-all room, and after I finished, I was already level 70!!! It's just wrong! I have 37 kills in total, and I'm level 70. I don't get it. What happened?

Yeah, I guess it was a major bug. What's going to happen if i start playing Prestige? Am I going to lose my level?

That sucks. I get irritated when people play under my gamertags and unlock achievements and stuff for me. Losing out on earning my own rank would make me no less livid.
