Why do people think they are tough when they play games on hard modes? I played MW2 on recruit and Uncharted 2 on very easy. What's wrong with this? I own a PS3 since Christmas, so maybe that's a good reason. What do you think?

When you play it on a challenge that is "too easy", you go right through the game pretty quickly and it doesn't really challenge the player. If you zoom through the game and beat it so quickly, it didn't challenge you enough and lessened the replay value. However, if you play it on a difficulty to hard for you, you may not get pass "stage 1" and you will be so upset that you don't want to play the game anymore. Play it on normal.

I feel the need to ask you guys: What's wrong with playing on high difficulty levels?
Play it on whatever setting you like, it doesn't really matter as long as your happy playing on easy. I always play on easy because i dont like getting stressed out on games that i know would be too tough on hard.
The reason I play games is to be entertained and to be challenged at the same time. I always play on the hardest difficulty first then unlock the next highest difficulty and play that if its available. For me, its the challenge that makes the game fun. There's nothing wrong with playing on easy but you aren't experiencing all the game has to offer by doing so.
nothing wrong with it.
difficulty settings are there for a reason, so everyone can get as much enjoyment out of the game as possible. they also add replayability and help people get better.
Nothing wrong with playing on easy. Games are meant to be enjoyed.
BTW this is the nicest thread I've seen.
This is key. A lot of people enjoy it more if the AI puts up a tough fight. That's all.Nothing is wrong with playing on any setting, the important thing is that your enjoying the game.

THis is pretty general .. BUT the REASON people think they are more important than players that play on "EASY" is that the difficulty setting is obviously harder (in most games) and the game takes quicker, more decisive skills to complete ... so if you want to play on a casual level, so be it, but don't try to play someone online and get angry because they have a better understanding of the game and skill set
i never play anything above normal unless
i love the game to an extent where i've played through it over 20 times already(mgs4, gow3, u2 are a few samples).
i think it's dumb when gamers say ignorant things that make
it seem like their experience is more valid than others.
There is nothing wrong with it. I usually play every game on Normal and then move up in difficulty. Sometimes I do put games on Very Easy or Easy though just for fun. What matters is your having fun with the game. So let the haters hate and don't listen to them. Some people are competitive and some aren't. I'm in between. Why do people think they are tough when they play games on hard modes? I played MW2 on recruit and Uncharted 2 on very easy. What's wrong with this? Theres nothing wrong with playing on any level, as long as you enjoy the experience. Some people prefer a challenge, some people just want to complete the game. Doesnt bother me what level you play on. I dont play game on very easy, im happy enough playing through on Normal, then working my way up (usually for trophies etc :) )
Nothing wrong with playing a videogame on easy mode.
I always try to play my games on the Normal setting.
Hard for Shoot them ups and other Genres that I'm good at.
Playing on Hard if you can do that is just a mark of skill when playing a videogame.
easy, Normal, Hardare just game setting nothing to get over excited about.
there isnt anything wrong with it IMO.but i dont like playing them on hard either it can get very annoying replaying it so many times.so its normal for me
Oh and can i ask. What does TC stand for??haha sorry for not being up to date with it
Nothing is wrong with it, you should play it on whatever you find comfortable, I prefer playing games on hardest difficulty for the fun of he challenge and the feeling when I beat it, there are some games I play on easier difficulties though.
the way i see it... hard=frustraing... so i dont choose it.

Cheap hard (WaW, BO, MoHF) = frustrating. Fair challenge (Resistance, Killzone, BioShock, IW CoDs) = fun.
I only play on harder modes if a trophy requires it. Otherwise, regular/medium is the best way to go.
My main gripe with game difficulty in general is that it's nothing more than a set of scaled variables - normal has enemies with normal health that do normal damage and your character takes damage at the normal rate and has a normal amount of health. Easy increases your health/damage and decreases enemy damage and health. Hard just increases it. In some games hard mode results in more enemies or enemies with a higher spawn rate. Hard never has enemies with more intelligent AI.DJ_Lae
I might be wrong, but doesn't KZ2's AI improve as the difficulty goes up, they seem to take the same amount of damage on Elite, and you still take like 20 shots before dying, but it's still pretty hard due to the good AI. Most of the time, the health and damage just change to more realistic, which is harder, it'd be kind of hard to design an easy mode with braindead AI but where you still die in like 2-3 hits, I do get your point though.
Exactly. I usually play through games on easy to start off with then move up to normal on my second play-through...Nothing is wrong with playing on any setting, the important thing is that your enjoying the game.

If you play games on easy Sony send around some hired muscle to beat the crap out of you so you toughen the F*** up,only then will you be ready for the harder modes.

I think Killzone 2 does. Some games definitely do it, but it's a lot more work for the developer so it's usually skipped.I'm fine with whatever difficulty people like to play it on. Personally I like games on harder difficulties, but that's just me. But it also depends on my mood, sometimes I want to play a game for fun, just to relax, and not worry about dying, for those times I like easy. However when I want to sit down and enjoy it more, I go for higher difficulties. I do hate it though if I make it to a climactic ending, it's basically just going to defeat the boss or do the last level, but then I die... Then I die again... Then I die again... This pattern repeats and it drives me nuts if I'm on a hard difficulty and struggling at the end of the game.
Anyway, enjoy it however you want to. My friend likes to play games on the easiest difficulty, I generally like more of a challenge. It all depends on what you prefer.
Nothing is wrong with that. The only problem is that it can be a cake walk pretty much and be way too easy.

There's no problem playing on easy. Heck, when I play a game for the first time, I play it on easy, so I get a feel of the controls, and scope out the enemies and bosses for their weak points without frusturating difficulty. Then when I play again, I up the challenge. I usuallylike to play on the hardest difficulty to get the full experience of the game.
idk i like playing all my games on hard difficulty,,,makes the experience more immersive...like try playing mgs4 on the hardest setting...so upestting
Nothing's wrong with it. I usually play my games on Normal, unless it's something I'm extremely unfamiliar with, then I'll play it on easy. Occasionally I play on hard if I'm feeling adventurous, or if it's something I just truly love. (For example, playing Uncharted 2 on crushing is some of the most fun I've ever had in a game, so when UC3 is out I'll probably play that on hard to start with.)
The way I see it, easy mode can be challenging for some people depending on your skill level. I just about always play a game on normal difficulty because generally that is challenging enough.
MLB10: The Show is an example of me playing a game on easy and really enjoying it though. I'm just not that good at the game. I play on rookie setting for hitting and pitching and turn pitch speed all the way down... With this, my stats are actually pretty darn realistic and almost every game is still a challenge. Sure I blow out the computer once in awhile but they beat me pretty good sometimes too. I used to feel bad but I wasn't enjoying the game on normal skill levels.
I like a challenge, may be you don't. As for there being something wrong with it... hey it's your game play it however you want. I actually have a friend at work who plays all of his games on easy. He recently completed Black-ops then complained about how easy it was. I had to laugh, I actually asked have you considered playing on... well normal. :PCellAnimation
Sweet jesus, please tell your friend that he is a f***ing moron..... Playing on easy is good if you want to get through the story of a game quickly or the game is designed soo bad that playing it on hard will make you want to destroy the game disc. If you complain that a game is too easy when YOU ARE PLAYING IT ON FREAKING EASY, then you should be shot.
It seems to me that the reason why TC made this thread is because some people (friends maybe?) called him a wimp for playing games on easy.
Hey, if you're having fun while playing games on easy, then good for you. You don't have to care what other people think of how you choose to play games.
And I don't play on hard, but just on normal
