I saw it on the shelf and it looked low-budget.
Nope. ROCKIN' racing title, great graphics (you can actually judge distances and such VERY well), solid frame rate, and it has all of the console bells and whistles like mini-games, skill zone, Climb to the Top, Season, and jump-in play for Modifieds, Trucks, National & Sprint Cup series with all of the sanctioned tracks and a hand-full of fantasy road and oval tracks... like I said in another post, it's the best one of the series to date in my opinion even though it's on a hand-held without the option for analog gas/brake pedal. I'm as suprised as anyone else, having played NASCAR games since 1998...
... wow... I've been playing NASCAR computer games for a decade... how time flies.
This isn't a race game for everyone... you need to appreciate Sim racing and understand the sport of NASCAR, because even though it's about being able to drive well, it's also about getting your set-up right in order to get the most speed out of the car on a given track. The subtlties of the sport often make people frustrated... but if you understand the sport, there's a GREAT racing game to be played.
