So far, I've only played the first act, and I'm rather disappointed, to be honest. I did not expect it to live up to what everyone was saying about it, just like I did with The Dark Knight, but so far, I've felt a bit underwhelmed. I hope the next couple of Acts pick up.

Also, what was up with the beginning with all those channels? It's first set on that workout station... That was really weird. Also, I think Olga's daughter, Sunny, could've a better job in her stuttering. It's not very convincing to me.

What say you?

By the way, I put this here instead of System Wars because everyone in System Wars for some reason thinks I make up that I have a PS3 so I can pretend to fairly talk crap about it, despite giving positive feedback on the other games I have on PS3. I mean, don't get me wrong; Metal Gear Solid 4 is awesome, but even the low-point of the series, Metal Gear Solid 3, seemed to have a better beginning.

Its strange to make a thread asking a question, then you go in bashing about the game... You sound very suspect...no wonder people in system wars think of you that way.

MGS3 was the high point in the series, if you ask me.

And I promise you that Act 4 will win this poll.

C'mon, I like Metal Gear Solid 4. The bashing only comes from disappointment. Plus, how would I know such little details about it if I didn't own a PS3?

since when was 3 a low point in the series? The game gets better but i hope you didn't buy the game just because of hype, if you haven't played all the previous games then your only causing your self a disservice and you probably wont appreciate the overall story and big picture this game tells.

I played Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3. Also, in my opinion, 2 was the best. 3 was the worst. But all of them were awesome. I didn't just buy this game because of the hype, and I'm not saying it's bad. I'm still glad I got the game... I just was expecting more is all.

1. Act 4 2. Act 5 3. Act 1 4. Act 2 5. Act 3 I really enjoyed all the acts, but Act 4 is the clear winner.

Why are you even here posting about this? You played the first act of a long game. That's like pressing Start on Super Mario 3 and saying "it sucks" just from that. This just seems like a flame bait trap or something.

Dont agree with anything you said... :| Particularly MGS3 being a low point for the series. I mean... cmon... But at any rate, Act 1 was most definitely NOT the best Act. Act 2 and 4 were my favorites.

No, it's nothing like pressing Start on Super Mario Brothers 3 and then proclaiming it sucks. In fact, it's the farthest thing from that, considering I played 1/5 of the game already, unless the other Acts are longer. I clearly stated that I liked it, but wished it was a bit more. I don't have to speak highly of it every opportunity I get to be truthful about it.

"I mean... c'mon?" What's that supposed to mean? I have no idea what you are talking about or what you are trying to tell me by using a common phrase that ended a statement where it seemed like it should've started.

I'm not saying that. You're judging an entire game as crappier than the other releases without even playing the whole thing. You played Act 1. Technically, yes it's about the same as pressing start compared to today's standards of gaming. Act 1 is the intro (pretty much) much like the Tanker in MGS2. You don't even have a Boss in Act 1. You're judging an entire book by two pages.

I'm not sure why you guys are saying he's making this up or something. He has an opinion and is asking a question. I personally can't vote, because I forget the acts seeing that I haven't played the game since it came out. I guess i didn't have a favorite act, just different parts of different acts were awesome.

I didn't want to get started. It would obviously have looked like I was trying to force my opinion if I had stated all the reasons why I think MGS3 being a low-point for the series is bull crap. I dont care to force my opinion on anyone. But here goes. MGS3 was the most ambitious, original, and technically impressive up until 4 came along. The first two were good, but the environment was generic and repetitive to say the least. MGS3 managed to bring the amazing stealth gameplay into an open, lush, wildlife inhabited environment and make it work even better.Plus the score, the great story which actually managed to succeed where most prequels fail, the graphics, and the boss fights (far superior to the first and second)... it was an improvement in every way. But thats fine. Think what you want. Simply said I didnt agree with you.

I am addicted to this game and went through the story mode about 6 times. The act that I liked was with A soldier taking a loud dump underneath a barrel. I guess it was act 2 or 3. A great way to end the snake chronicles. I hope raiden or fox units story is next in line......

I admire the game for it's ideas, graphics, gameplay... just about everything but I don't actually 'like' it for what it is, meaning I don't favour it .. does it make sence? "I like it, but I don't really like it"

I don't really find it strange. His pretty much asking which Act in MGS4 we like and I believe what he wrote on his first post is simply expressing is own opinion.

babystapler

They prob didnt care, it was way more emotional to play mgs1 then play act 4 something simple as picking up the same pistol was like omg I wish we got to explore more of it without scarabs the atmosphere was just so good, it was giving me a idea of what a true remake of mgs1 would be like, especially using young snake w/ bandana camo

Act 4 was great but i gotta say Act 5 for me...Just the final battle with Ocelot, buttonmashing part, and Raiden struggle were just incredible. And btw TC MGS2 is by far the weakest link in the MGS series. It added very little to the series and the bosses were pretty forgetable(apart from Vamp). MGS3 is probably the best in the series, adding several plot twists, new gameplay elements(camo, food, disguises), and may well have the best boss fights of the entire series(The Boss, The Sorrow, The Fear, The Fury and The End).

I can honestly say that Act 4 wasn't that great for me, but only because I never played MGS back in the day.

Act 5 was my favorite and the most emotional.

Those fights were fun but there was no build up to each of them, the only memorable one in storyline terms was the fight with The Joy Wasnt many boss fights in mgs2 though, there was ogla , mg , vamp and thats all i can think of MGS2 was very very fun at the time though i just love the whole setting for some reason hated playing as raiden though, snake is finished now and we missed a entire game we coulda been playing as him

I think the reason iloved mgs3 so much was playing as a legend like big boss and seeing the beginning of the series, because how he gained his skills thru training and not just being a clone and getting tortured and then ****** over by eva and everything he went thru i felt much more connected. Every time i see him salute i get teary and in mgs4 it was killing me seeing him try to salute, it really annoyed me when i SPOILERS DONT READ IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED!!!

saw solidus' body skinned on my first play thru it was like the man i sat thru mgs3 with has no skin and yeah it just annoyed me thinking that.

Can't choose sorry. However, I have to say that the final boss fight in Act 5 was the most impressive fight in any video game. The way they beat each others was visually PERFECT and satisfying.

I also remember being a little dissapointed with MGS3. Probably becasue i played it just after i finished playing Resident Evil 4 (way back when it just launched on the Gamecube) so my expectations for hyped up games had just gone up :P In no way did i think MGS£ was a bad game, just i got my enjoyment out of 1,2 and now 4 than it. Like most people, act 4 was my favourite act.

I could see where your disappointment comes from. Especially if you haven't played the others. I thought it was the best game of all time, but I see that you could think it isn't that good because it had a classic case of too much hype. Even the best game of all time can have too much hype, because people can say that bad stuff is good. The voice acting won the award for best voice acting on gamespot. That is a joke. I actually was laughing as Otacon was crying. He sounded like somebody trying to sarcastically cry. Old Snake didn't sound old, he sounded like he had a cold. Liquid I guess was good, but I don't really like the melodramatic Japanese stereotypical evil character lines. The only good voice actors were Drebin, Naomi and Meryl. So if you were thinking to hear amazing voice acting, and if you don't really like the acid indused crazy storylines with cheezy characters that people who like Japanese storylines like, then you might be disappointed. But I really don't see how you could be disappointed with gameplay.

after the fight with Vamp til the end of act4 is the best part of the game imo. the rest of it wasnt that great imo anyway my favorite act was 2.

my favorite mgs is 3. best soundtrack i think and hands down best boss fights. mgs4 i didnt really like any of the bosses too much, mgs2 olga was the only good one and mgs3 all of them were pretty awesome except for volgin and shagohad parts.

MGS3 was the best IMO although MGS4 has by far the best game-play.

Act 2 for me, Act 4 is great but it's more Nostalgia than actual game-play.

MGS3 was the high point in the series, if you ask me.

And I promise you that Act 4 will win this poll.

Scianix-Black
Yeah MGS3 was my personal favorite. I voted for Act 2, since gameplay is most prevalent in this act. Act 4 is cool, but as those who played know...SPOILERS...there are no human enemies in this act, except for during the boss fight. That was a downfall for me...END SPOILERS.

I voted Act 5 only because of the microwave scene and the end fight. EPIC!

Act 4 is the best level/act in video gaming history to me. Epic from beginning to end.

I love when first walking up to Shadow Moses port after avoiding the Gekkos and the music from MGS1 starts playing, gave me chills even on the second play through.

I haven't played the MGS games, so 5 was the best for me. But I liked all the little Flashbacks in the 4th one.
