[QUOTE="GranReyUno"][QUOTE="nyc05"] See, I'm not so sure R2 is above R1 in terms of gameplay for me. I loved the boss battles, namely the Leviathan, and I loved the Chicago level. Other then that, I have to say that I hate, absolutely hate that Insomniac took out the weapon wheel.
I loved having every bad-ass weapon at my disposal to use how I wanted and when I wanted in R1. While R2 managed the 2-weapon system better then I thought it would, I found myself missing the weapon wheel, and missing it dearly. Especially now that I'm near the end of my second playthrough.
I played through R1 several times, each time playing each level a little bit differently then the last thanks to the weapon wheel. I missed that big-time in R2.
As I said, I'm not sure where I stand between both games. I love certain things about each game and I dislike things about each game.
At this point, I'm undecided in regards to which game I prefer.
I do love 'em both, though.:D

Am I the only one that preferred the 2 guns over the weapon wheel system? :? nyc, I will admit that during my 2nd play through I wished I had the weapon wheel but that was only because certain ammo would not be available until the next few chapters. I completely loved it during my 1st play through. It added so much strategy.
I hear a lot of people make that argument, but I couldn't disagree more. How does it add strategy to limit how many weapons you can carry and have the game hand you each weapon you need just before you actually need it? Being told what I need is not strategic, it's lame in my book.
To me, the strategy in R1 was "gee, I have all of these kick-ass weapons, which one should I use this time....*devilish smile*?" versus R2 where it's "I'm forced to pick between 2 or 3 weapons that the game threw at me just before I needed them....*yawn*."
When replaying R2 again, which is something I commonly do with all of my games, each playthrough feels the same as the last, save for the change in difficulty (because I increase it).
In R1, each of my playthroughs were different because I had access to any gun I wanted for use when and how I wanted. To me that added strategy, unlike being forced to pick between 2 or 3 weapons that the game placed right in front of me just as I needed them.
Most people argue with me about this, and each one fails to make a dent in my feelings about this. I disagree strongly with the change, and I feel most people just make themselves think it's for the best because that's what Insomniac did.
The weapon wheel was one of the things that set R1 apart from all other shooters. Eliminating it made R2 feel just a little more common, if you will. I still love R2, but in my opinion, Insomniac made a bad decision in removing the weapon wheel.
To each his own.;)
While playing through R2 I agreed, on some level, with both of you. R2 is obviously more realistic in only being able to carry around 2 weapons (I know, like the rest of the story is realistic ne way). There were times while playing that I had to make the choice of if I wanted to pick that weapon up, or keep the ones I have. Although like Nyc stated, this game laid out the weapons for you right before you needed it, which sometime predicted what was going to happen. I don't really mind either way I guess; I like the wheel, but two weapons worked fine for me.
Overall, to answer this post: Hale isn't dead, thats for sure. I keep thinking of how they are going to set up R3 and I just don't know. They won't have another lead character, because that would be dumb and not appealing. I think some how, they will make Hale human or find a way so that he's the main character and you're fighting against the Chimera. I wouldn't want to play as him fighting against the humans, that would defeat the purpose of this game.
Great game though, online is amazing except its not as strategic and people don't talk as much as Socom.
