When are our PS3 avatars going to get an update?

Sony has been great with all the updates.  I hope they release one soon to get more options to our avatars on the PS3, like allowing us to use pics from PHOTO (similar to how we can do that for our user account images), or maybe even download new avatars from the web with the browser.  At the very least they should add to the list on a regular basis.  Most avatars available right now are flat out corny.YourDaddy88

I personally believe that would be a waste of time with Home coming in a few months

i don't think we need more avatars at this point, wouldn't you rather sony work on things like incresed b/c or dvd upscaling, or ingame XMB acces.americahellyeah

You don't have to use Home if you don't want to.....its an optional program.......right? so it would make sense to have new avatars because some people won't care for Home. its all about options! give it to the fanbase.

And to Legend_C4A you are correct, they should offer choices.  I was a little blinded there by Home as a theory and didn't recognize that there are definitely people who will not want to participate in that environment.

I've had my PS3 since the week after launch and I've seen a LOT of new avatars since. It seems liike they get updated every time a new exclusive or first party game is about to be released. There were like five new Motorstorm avatars posted the week when that was released. There have recently been some new Ratchet and Clank ones as well, even though that doesn't come out until later this year. Avatars get updated frequently as far as I can tell. Oh, and the lack of an in-game XMB is the second of the only two problems I have with PS3.

Yeah, I would rather have quite a few other things first, like upscaling, ability to play games and Blu-Ray movies while downloading from the PS Store, etc.  BUT how complicated and how much time will it be to add more avatars, or allow the user to choose from PHOTO???  Come on, this should be one of those little things to be included in some big update, and cool to have.

And whoever said who cares because of Home, what???  What difference does Home make here?  None - why?  Because I will still see my friends' avatars when I turn on my PS3 without going into home, and if I just want to quickly e-mail someone I will still use the friends list, especially if they are not online then they are not in Home.  Home isnt going to replace this dude.
