I played through Oblivion on the Xbox 360 3 times; I now have it on PS3.  So I guess that's a good indication of addiction. :)

Is it really that good? I keep hearing good things about it but that's serious, 2 weeks solid on the same game. And for those who don't like FPS is it true you can switch to 3rd person mode?

your an addict once you start asking questions like this in a forum.... you know the 1st step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. I have an underlying video game addiction that's developing like full blown AIDS. I'm cool with it

by the way, has anyone had the pleasure of watching NPC's attacking each other completely out of nowhere?

i regret buying oblivion....i should have known this rpg is way too serious in its storyline, with no humour at all....plus gameplay is interesting but it gets laggy sometimes

I've been playing all week. It's like a drug LOL

Became one of the head guys of The Dark Brotherhood, now I just started on the main quest. The side quests alone is pretty much a game all in itself. You can pretty much go through weeks and weeks without even touching the main quest. It really is a great game, as great as everybody says it is. Just starting the quest, I've already shut down I think 3 or 4 Oblivion gates on the way to the Imperial City, and now I'm looking for spies.

I've never played Elder Scrolls before, never even seen or heard of it until people were yapping about the PS3 version. Completely new to this franchise and I'm literally HOOKED. If you're open to different generes or this type of RPG, I suggest you get this game. You won't be disappointed.

Same here. My NBA 2k7 hasn't been played in weeks and I just won my first playoffs. I'll probably be rusty and lose when I continue it.

nothing like the first time you played it through though...  The replay, all the excitement from the story plot is gone is the only problem.

oblivion reminds me alot of world of war craft....nothing but cyber crack

Well go ahead snort up all the crack you want because there is an unlimited amount.

All I gotta say it just don't get too addicted to that $hit because it will kill.  I remember seeing something on vh1 or something like that about people playing WoW and this one guy got so hooked to it he was playing it more than 40 plus hours a week.  He eventually put himself into some type of rehab clinic to help get back to normal but when he got out of rehab he picked up the old habit right where he left off and ended up committing suicide by blowing his head off with a shotgun not long after.  True story though.

I think I realized it when I started making short cuts to get through some of the plains of oblivion.

You can go up near cliffs if you find the right spot,  you can go down almost any cliff without getting hurt.  So.. some of the plains are very much easier if you can skip a few underground caves n' such.    ALSO - when i began testing how far I can get across lava pools to skip ahead as well...you'd be amazed.

I will play this game through one more time, I want to level "better" and I want to do NOTHING with th main quest until later.  I will probably try to be a little more imfamy based than all good deeds too.

When you start a new character just to get some "more awesome" stats.

Right now (yes, right now) I'm beefing up my strength and endurance by constantly summoning a skeleton with the difficulty cranked up and wailing on it. Only six more levels to go with each stat and capped! :D But then I need to try and cap speed and agility.

Its really addicting. The whole exploring part really gets me, even though the quests are sweet and guilds are awesome. Its just fun to make potions sell them make money and buy anything. There is just so much to this game. The factions are cool and add to the reality of oblivion.

You're addicted when you walk around the real world and consider harvesting all the plants you see growing.  I went on a walk yesterday in the real world, and it was pretty and I thought to myself "what wonderful graphics."

heres how i knew that my friend was an addict.... i play hockey with this kid and we both have oblivion... we were sitting in the lockeroom padding up before the game and he says to me 2 things that are sure signs of addiction:  the first was - "dude have u ever tried to take girls clothes off after u kill them in oblivion.... i do that all the time, its like my signature move where everyone knows oh crap tom was here"    and the 2nd thing was  "man i shouldnt even of came to this game.... its like i should be home playing oblivion because the world there is still going on.. its like people are still living their lives and my guy is just standing in that world while im playing hockey"            so yeah i gave him the strangest looks ever and said that i pity him  but the whole team got good laughs outa it

I just cant get into this game. I have tried for over a year with the 360 version. Recently got the ps3 version. I forced myself to finaly close the first Oblivion gate. I just dont have the addictive personality to play these types of games. I could not stand WoW for more than a few hours ..i never got past the first month with that game.
