For this to happen, and it will.. two things have to take place.
First Sony has said that they can improve the graphics with a firmware update and enhance performance. So, this needs to happen. Not that the graphics arnt already great, games like Heavenly Sword blew me away!
Secondly, a developer like Ninja Theory Ltd. who developed Heavenly Sword,or the developer of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, or COD4's Infinity Ward needs to have the Time to make a great game without the pressure of milestones and release dates looming overhead. Do you guys remember Deus Ex for the PC? Well designer Harvey Smith said in an interview that when the game was done they played it for six months just to make sure it was just right before they put it out. That is what is needed to get the full potential for a game for the PS3, or any system for that matter.
That said, there are great games out there, that take full advantage of what the PS3 has to offer. Although very short, Heavenly Sword is one of those games that is perfect in all that it does, albiet short.
Like all other systems development gets easier over time. and like all systems (but xbox1 it died before its time) the games get better overall at the end of its life cycle. PS2 did it, the system is max out, but only when next gen systems started to come out. I would give the PS3 at least 5 years before it hits its full potential.
First you must find the square root of the sum of the dollar costs of all of the PS3 games available. Then you must multiply that number by pi. Multiply that by the number produced when dividing Phil Harrison's age byJack Tretton's age... and voila. That's how many months until the PS3 reaches full potential.

First of all... the PS3 is fighting strongly
Secondly... Uncharted already shown us what PS3 can do but when games such as MGS4, Killzone 2 and FFXIII are release then we will see much more difference to its competitors not only in visual department but game-play too.

Well its ahead of the curve compared with the 360 as it has games like COD4 and Uncharted only one year in where as it has taken 2 years to get to that point for the 360.
So i think by this time this year next year it will start to show really what it can do (or maybe not do, you never know).
I think its biggest worry is that it lost the advantage of having the PS2 out ahead of the old Xbox that meant the Xbox was always playing catch up.
Letting Microsoft get that lead means lets say 2 years time when at last the PS3 is really starting to put the 360 in its place it leaves Microsoft in the point of maybe thinking about new hardwareas the 360 would be 4 years old and they could be looking at the next generation.
I know they all want the consoles life to be longer this time but now they are behind they are always at risk of being wrong footed.
The thing the PS3 will always have is the huge fan base of PS2 owners will eventually trade up and there is good chance a lot of them will still go with Sony.
To be honest i dont really care as I have both systems and so have the best of all worlds, I stratagy I can highly recommend and then you just pick and choose the best of each. I love both systems equally and would hate to be without either.
Just because you have a Ferrari does not mean you do not want toown an Aston Martin.
I think 2008 is the PS3s year to shine, very brightly! I've said it to my friends what other PS3 owners have said before "just give the PS3 a year." It was sad to see some exclusives like Lair and Heavenly Sword not get what we were all expecting, but when Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted came out it showed some light that the PS3 still has hope. I really think that this coming year will be the time for the PS3 to shine and take center stage, especially with some heavy hitting titles expected to be released.
