Buy it now since sony hasnt even announced it and if there is a new one its probably going to end up having less features cuz the ps3 keeps getting downgraded as the prices go down...if i was you i'd get the 160gb package with uncharted...great game and plenty of hard drive space

get one now. i very much dout a "slim" version will come out in less than two years, and even then looking back it will probly be less reliable. i say that only because i have heard that the ps2 slim was always breaking. But realy buy one asap, that way you can enjoy it now. by the time the "slim" moddles come out it will be close to time for ps4.

Mid 2011 - 2012 is when we'll probably see a slim version. But i prefer the one we have now. The console is a tank!

In my opinion, if sony wants to sell more units and keep up with the competitor. They are going to have to do a price cut for the sony ps3. Sony shouldnt be worried about making a "new" ps3. They should be worried about the current console not selling as it used to, ever since the other console had a price cut.

By the by, there is a newPS3 every couple of months,
but waiting for a slim model is a waste of your time.

slim......it aint happening!!!

it needs to be so big so it can be really quite because it has a massive fan inside it and if it was smaller it would just die..

but if u live in aus i think they'll be a price cut soon seeing that 360's are so cheap now after the price cuts so sony are gonna have to do something about there price to keep up with the competition

or wait till ps4.......

thats what a smaller/improved cpu and gpu are for, to cut back on heating and price.  i don't think anyone here is expecting a slim the size of a ps2.....

but i can safely say a slim version or updated version could "easily" be half the size
