Cause when I got my PS3 it originally had 55GB then I did a system update, downloaded the Virtua Tennis 3 demo, and copied to 8MB PS2 Memory Cards to my HDD, now I know the demo, and the 2 PS2 memory cards do not take up 8GBs, so I was wondering does the update take up memory, and if it does can i delete the update but still be updated like on a PSP?
Not to sure actually, when you download the update it has to be stored but after that the os has to be stored somewhere either on the hd or on some sort of flashmemory. If I had to guess it would be on the hd since all the ps3's have them built in .
55GB is the "real" amount of space that you have on a 60GB HDD after formatting. Sony then reserves 8GB for the system updates and the OS. So, before you even download or play anything, you are starting at 47GB of free space.
the only way to "delete" the update is to restore it to it's factory defaults(theres an option under the System Settings). but without the latest firmware update, you will not be able to go online or go to the PS Store.
man that sucks the should have made it like the PSP where you can delete the update after its downloaded and still be updated damnnnn u sony!!!_MysTesO_
The psp installs the os on flashmemory , while the ps3 installs it on the hd (it deletes the installer after)
fixed, silly forum doesnt always post what I type :P
