when i finish playing should i turn it out from the front then the back?

i dont want to break my ps3 and i heard that turning it off directly from the back is not a good idea, but it ok to turn it off from the front button then the back one to completely shut it down

how do you turn it off other than the controller? or.. why turn it off other than the controller? Once when it froze I used the front button I guess.

I have had my system on standby since basically Feburary of last year, excluding unhooking the system when I moved.

I am much to lazy to get up and flip the switch when all I have to do is grab the controller and start playing.
